nice presentation, but I wish I could understand a word)
any english sample?

Jeg liker det veldig godt. Likke til.

Showoff!!!

PointMergeArrival 22nd Mar 2011 18:02

The youtube clip is intended for the norwegian public, but we are working on an english version geared towards flightcrews and operational staff.
I'll post a link when it's finished.

HEATHROW DIRECTOR 22nd Mar 2011 19:57

What's the basis of the system though??

PointMergeArrival 22nd Mar 2011 20:38

EUROCONTROL - Point Merge Integration of Arrival Flows Enabling Extensive RNAV Application and CDA - Operational Services and Environment Definition

HD: Dublin will implement in 2012 and several others are in the pipeline or at least doing simulations to evaluate. (Rome, Milan, Geneva, Vienna, Paris, Brussels, Munich...and surprise, surprise EGLL)

How does this system cope with Wx avoidance or one a/c having to break off because the cabin is not yet secure for landing, or the tower asking for extended spacing?
It seems an overly-complex solution to a problem which carbon-based servers handle with aplomb.

HEATHROW DIRECTOR 22nd Mar 2011 21:16

I shall watch this with great interest...

Bren,

We've been looking at this for a while - as usual we dont seem to have enough space!Reworking of the TMA may help.

If your profile is correct, you are on your own at W Drayton!

I've seen the Heathrow prototype. It consists of myriad spiral arrivals over the North Sea with a 40nm final segment flown at 180kts from FL370.

It'll look like a 4yr old left alone with a Spirograph.:ugh:

Hi,

nice presentation. We'll have simulations for Paris ACC starting next week concerning sectors with initial approach fix called :

- LORTA (arrivals via MOPIL and XERAM)
- MERUE (via DPE and DVL)
-BALOD (via ANG-KEPER and PEPAX-KEPER)

at the end of the year it will be tested on real traffic...

It really seems to be an improvment for the capacity...

Hi!

So now PMS at ENGM is up and running. Check the link above for a english version of the previously posted video :)

Cheers!:ok:

Any Oslo controllers or pilots that have tried the new procedure that can share some thoughts? Would be intresting to hear your comments on this trial now when it has been tried on live traffic.

ron83 8th Apr 2011 19:11

Also would be interesting to know why Eurocontrol reported 80 minutes delay today at OSL?

Rumour that I heard was that there was a glider hanging above ENGM, with no radio contact... :=

PointMergeArrival 8th Apr 2011 21:19

the glider was a few weeks back.
The reason for todays delay was strong winds (107kts at FL100 and 59kts x-wind at 1000ft). We have had more go-arounds today than what we normally have in a month!
That being said, we are still running at a reduced rate to make sure everything is working as planned.
The biggest concern so far has been some airlines that do not load the transition from end of STAR to ILS into the FMC. When being cleared ILS in own navigation they will then "fill the gap / route discontinuity" by going DCT FAP, disregarding the published procedure. Which makes for some interesting situations if they are trailing traffic following the correct procedure.
Hopefully we'll find a solution to this shortly.
