NATS unit banding

Hello,

I am set to leave the RAF and fly off to fairer pastures with the mighty(!!!) NATS.
I know all the NATS units are banded differently but have never seen the definitive list of them. Could someone help me out with a list of the different units and banding levels? Just out of curiosity to be honest. All I know really is that the two area centres and Heathrow are band 5.

Thanks in advance :ok:

All I know really is that the two area centres and Heathrow are band 5.
If only ...... Band 5 is only a dream in Prestwick Centre. Personally, I'd make Swanwick TC Band 6 (but only for those who do Heathrow and Gatwick functions :p ) and all other Area units or TC validations Band 5 :ok: OK, Thames could maybe be Band 4 ;)

A little bit tongue in cheek. But not entirely.

Thankyou Yahoo,

Well I never! I am surprised that Aberdeen is a band 2 though. I have heard it is quite busy and complex to work up there.....plus all the stange accents up there! ;)

Yahoo!®, are these salaries after tax or before tax??
And if its before tax, wich is the percentage that you have to pay in UK?
Thanks in advance.

Before tax and it's circa 40%

Strange accents? It may be off the coast of Norfolk and Suffolk, but working Anglia Radar I find the accents are decidedly British and the service excellent. Thank you all.

slighty misleading.
You also pay National Insurance, which is a bit more complicated, but its roughly 11% of what you earn.

Like wot I said circa, around or about, 40% tax ignoring all of the allowances but including the extras. Far far less than our colleague's in Mainland Spain.

I was actually quite surprised to see that Stansted's Band is just below Manchester. I assume this is because of the Aerodrome function only at Stansted as opposed to the additional Approach Radar function that remains at EGCC?

Band 5- Swanwick, Heathrow 47k-85.5k (you go up a point every year takes 13 years to reach the top)
Band 4-Scottish, Gatwick, Manchester 45k-76k
Band 3-Stansted, Birmingham 44k-63k
Band 2-Aberdeen, Belfast, Cardiff, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow 43k-61k
Band 1-Farnborough, Luton, Southampton, London City 42k-60k

Without.

fit like

p_perez 12th Jun 2010 16:38

Hmmm ... at Spain, ATCOs pay 42% tax of the total amount, plus Social Security, plus unemployment fee. That´s about 50% at the end.

Now they are starting to talk about rising tax to 50%, plus all the rest (= 58%).

Saludos!

Without the extra 5.5k which, once you've got it, you never lose. Even if you move into a 9-5 Mon - Fri office job for 30 years and never go into an Ops room again it just changes name to NOS (Non Operational Supplement) instead of UHP (Unsocial Hours Payment).

Where does Gibraltar come in the pay band?

man friday 13th Jun 2010 07:41

Sir Herbert

Gib doesnt have a band,
Wages are less that band 1
No UHP/Shift allowance
Less leave allowance
No BUPA
No Share allocation

Were the poor relation to NSL in the UK.

Man Friday,

No motive behind this question other than curiosity, how do Gib's pay and conditions compare to those pre-NATS?

ATCO Two 13th Jun 2010 12:11

Man Friday,

Also no motive behind this question other than curiosity, but how many movements does Gibraltar have per day, per month?

throw a dyce 13th Jun 2010 13:57

I think it's about 12000 per annum.Look at the climate.:cool::cool:
It's interesting that Birmingham gets more money than Aberdeen and Edinburgh yet has less movements. How does that work then?

There's a border between them :}
