Global Recruitment for Sydney TMA

I'm being recruited for a job at Sydney TMA/TCU.

I have quite a few questions that hopefully someone from Sydney coudl answer.

1st and most important - is do you want me there? I realize there is issues between AsA and the Union, similar to what's happening in America right now. I am a founding memeber of NATCA (the US ATC Union) and I plan on joining Civil Air upon arrival.

2nd - What is the work schedule like at Sydney, specifically will i be able to work 4 9hr shifts per week or will I be required to work 5 shifts per week?

3rd - What protection is there for a controller if there is an accident or incident?

4th - How much holiday/vacation leave will I earn after 1 year of work? Since I'd have no seniority I guess I'd get last pick?

5th - How much sick leave do I earn and how hard is it to take?

6th - As far as pay is concerned in addition to the basic salary, what other additions are there? Such as extra for nights, holidays, weekends, etc.

7th - are there permanent days off or do you rotate?

8th - does Asa have long service leave and if so when does it begin?

I appreciate any info and I realize that there might be a few of you who are going to slam me on this, but thats OK cuz I know what its like to be a Yank Down Under.

6. It's a composite salary including loading for nights/weekends. Public Holidays extra (or option for time off in lieu if rostered on).

Thanks for the reply.

I think you will find the people there are a great bunch to work with. We have had a few new people from overseas in the last year and I think everyone has done their best to welcome them to Sy.

As for the shift lenght it will be 8 hours and I don't think that will change anytime soon.

By joining the union you will have legal representation should you have a accident/ incident.

On the point of rec leave there is the talk of changing to a system of points so that most people can get leave at least once a year when they want it.

As for sick leave with the new EBA you are allowed 8 single days off before a doctors certificate is required. Any 2 or more days sick requires a certificate.

Unfortunately there are no permanent days off so long term planning of weekends away is difficult.

I am sure you won't regret the move downunder. All the best.:ok:

It's especially 'humorous' when you demonstrate what it is to be a hillbilly on the Professional Pilots Rumour Network. That's assuming you meant "English" when you mentioned "the language"?

To quote Goerge Bush, whilst visiting a school in Texas in his role as governor, and asked whether, given the large spanish-speaking population, Texas should provide bibles in spanish:
"If English was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for Texas".

"save Ferris" :)

And no offense was meant in the simple-minded but good-natured reply.

Here are the answers to the questions in your post (which may help you with which elected leader I'd 'group' myself with).

Come on china, any goose would know that there are 2 posses if slow is ya go, either godzone or ice station zebra (the most liveable ice station in the world). In either one, I've seen more poofters at a b&s ball, than worker bees. Septics just have to get in the queue like anyone else, then scratch their arse and wonder whats goin' on. Noservices don't know, so why would we?
They have a bit of a thing against the blue rinse brigade, which may be a spanner.

Anything else?
