Air Services Australia Positions?!

Hi, Question for Australian ATCO's regarding the "controller shortage" my friends and family keep telling me is high profile in the news down there at the moment?? Any truth to the stories as there don't seem to be many jobs advertised on the ASA website. Cheers.:ok:

That`s `cos were only 17 controllers short and will be no controllers short by the end of August. Well, that`s what management say.

Who knows what the true numbers are? Somewhere north of 17. Possibly a 3 figure number but the atmosphere thieves in the AWB won`t admit the truth as they`d be exposed for the dysfunctional mob they are....

Do Air Services Australia take non-australians onto their training courses??

Do Air Services Australia take non-australians onto their training courses??
Only those eligible for permanent residency. They did have a 'sponsorship' of working skilled VISAs going for a while, but that scheme has succumbed to political pressure; as Airshambles used it to 'avoid' employing Australians, that they didn't want.

Unfortunately, that intake is for Ab-initio applications only:confused:. Do you think that hiring overseas controllers to boost numbers is an absolute last resort??

Last Resort....

Pommie,

Please don't assume any logic will emanate from AsA with regard to resolving the staffing issue that "really doesn't exist". I mean if they were half smart they would not have allowed the "non-situation" to occur!

That said, I don't think we are at "last resort" yet though probably past PNR.

Difficult to predict the future here when you assume logic as the basis for starting the process!

As it gets worse, it may change again.

I got an e-mail back in June from them stating that the recruitment drive to hire overseas applicants would not close until the end of December. Are we now saying that they have now stopped recruiting overseas
