What have they done?

A bit of a rhetorical post/question really but just thought I'd vent a bit.
Years ago (!) when I joined the CAA I went to the college on a decent wage, did an extensive course, which gave me wide and varied experience and even a ppl! After a time I validated at a unit and worked a shift pattern with other ATCO's.
I was;

Very Proud to tell people what I did for a living
Proud to tell people who I worked for
Very pleased with my salary and prospects
Looking forward to a really good pension in my retirement (too close!)
Eager to encourage others to join my company
Privileged to work with some of the most professional people I'd ever met
Always ready to go the 'extra mile' for the common good
Willing to get involved in extraneous activities
Felt highly valued by my company
Felt part of the decision making processes
Had no grudge (the opposite in fact) against management
etc, etc, etc

Now I find myself (from a purely personal point of view) in a position where, apart from the privilege of working with some of the very best professionals I think this country has to offer (at ALL locations), the rest of the list has either faded away or been wrenched off me by those in a higher position than myself.

This thread is not a complaint, a gripe, or an offer to have a go at colleagues in other locations; it's just something of a lament at what our management (with their nonsense 'visions 2011' emperors new clothes latest scheme) have done to that very list which I once held so dear.

Shame on them.:(

Have you read the first couple of pages of 'Chirp' today?

Shame indeed.

Agree entirely - in fact, the expression "Emperor's new clothes" is one that frequently occurs. The problem is a company, the whole purpose of which is to provide air traffic services, becoming top heavy with non-aviation people who are constantly beating their gums as if they are experts in the field. Not all ATCOs or engineers make the best managers but many of those who merely drift from company to company certainly do not.
