Brits in Canada

Quick question on behalf of a friend...... Of the recent crop of ATCOs crossing the pond to Canada, which airports have they been sent to? Have they had much of a choice or not? Is it possible to move to another tower after a reasonable period of time? Thanks in advance.:)

I've been at Toronto Tower for over 5 years now. It was my choice to come here, but they do like to send you somewhere where your experience is useful. You can "seniority bid" out of the quieter units but down-bidding is trickier.
Most of the other "imports" are in ACCs, Squibbler excepted in Thunder Bay tower.

Speaking of which, is there any news on the area side recruitment?

I was in contact with them earlier in the year and they said the experienced controller program was no longer in operation.

Experienced controller program is indeed on hold for now. No idea when or if it will start up again.

It probably needs some revision anyway as there were afew problems here and there depending on the centre and specialty. Maybe that is why it is no longer running?
