EGPF Tower Visit?

Hi,

I'm new to the forums, and having logged about 5 hours in PPL training, am an extremely inexerienced. However Cumbernauld Flying school have asked if I wanted to go to an event at EGPF_TWR, an oppurtunity to learn about pilot/controller interaction. I said I would love to go, and I was wondering if anyone here knows exactly what's happening?

I asked the Flying School, but they aren't sure when it is or exactly what it will entail.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi there

I wouldn't think it's an "event" as such, more likely to be a visit, Glasgow ATC (and most units AFAIK) are very accomodating in trying to having local flight clubs to visit, understand and work together.

The flying school across the corridor from yours organise this kind of visit regularly :)

From my experience, you'll be shown the visual control room (tower) and the approach room, and probably also get a chance to plug in next to a controller and watch / listen to what they do.

Highly recommended, even better if the flying club make a fly-in out of it (especially if they can negotiate free landings ! ;) )

Enjoy
