Lhr 09r Cpt
At risk of revisiting an old topic and/or a stupid question... would it not make sense to have a different SID for 09R Comptons? With departure amendments and all surely a standard change would decrease workload?
First to admit I don't know much about it so just looking for reasons either way, and as i'm only in early stages of LHR im sure theres something i dont yet understand about it. Thanks all |
Try thinking one up..... then suggest it to the Heathrow ATCOs at TC.

Adrian, we're working on something, but it's with TC at the moment.....I think designing a whole new SID is out of the question because of the political/environmental aspects.
From the tower's point of view, we'd like to see a formalisation of the current status quo, F/F 220 6A, so that GMP can give that to the a/c instead of a CPT SID and then Air (S) having to amend it. |

Over the past few years, F/F 220 6A is more or less a given now....I cannot remember the last time it was something else, or when you guys went back to separate releases. Is there any particular reason for this, or just to cut down on the phone calls and 220 is a good compromise and gives you options? Oh to be given 260 for the Shamrocks like the old days! :} |
I appreciate the problems with a whole new SID, what you have described above with the 220 was what I was thinking: if GMP passed that clearance in the first place it would remove the duplication of work. Thanks for the info though :ok:

220?? Weird heading. I only ever used something like that when we were landing on 05!! I was always an "up the inside" man when possible so presumably current thinking is to go outside and descend the inbounds closer in?

Not wishing to speak for them, but I believe it's so that they have the option of both, providing that we in the tower transfer it early enough. But yes, in my experience, up the outside is a lot more common than it used to be five or six years ago.

The FF 220/6A varies depending which TC watch is on, I quite often come in on spin shifts and have CPTs on release, which as a deps controller is just one more thing we could do without, far to many phone calls are required, especially if all the NAT traffic wants to go out via CPT, makes a steady deps session far busier than is really necessary. The sooner we can standardise it the better for all concerned.

Personally I'd rather it went up the inside (oo-er missus) as it keeps it away from that horrible 'LL use the edge of the RMA/LF use the edge of CAS' which looks just nasty. Trouble is, some of our guys can't get them up like they used to...

Yes, I'd agree, you tend to get them later than you used to. With EFPS (moves the strip out to the left when airborne), limits on only one conditional line up, and newish R/T where we have to include the holding point with the line up clearance, our ability to effectively manage the R/T to enable such things as quick transfer for CPTs on 09R is diminished |
