Shoreham ATC
Posts on the Private Flying thread indicate that, as a result of the holding company going into liquidation, Shoreham is shut until further notice.
I am sure that the liquidator will recognise that the Airport Company is a viable business and will be sold off as a priority, as is standard procedure. The question remains, who will buy it. Out of interest, did anyone apply for the recently advertised ATCO job there? |
Shoreham:
Who was the "holding company" gone bust??
POC |
Shoreham Holding Company
For all those interested the BBC Southern Counties website (www.bbc.co.uk/southerncounties) has quite an interesting article on Shoreham's difficulties in it's Sussex news section...
The holding company is called Erinaceous and it is reported there are outstanding debt of £1/4 billion :uhoh: We wish all involved good luck... |
Erinaceous isn't linked to that that flipping notorious blocks of flats freeholder that upsets hoardes of long-leaseholders all over London and the South on a depressingly regular basis, is it?
Edit: Just Googled and answered my own question in the first hit ... d'oh! Erinaceous companies spawn out of thin air like crosses between pterodactyls and phoenices. Parasites have nothing on them, and I doubt the creditors will either. |
Here's couple of the nice and interesting planes there.

<<They even had a female assistant who was preparing for TWR. >>
Good God.... they'll let women drive cars next... Tell you what, there are lot of extremely switched on ladies in ATC. |
HD - I think you read too much into the statement
<<They even had a female assistant who was preparing for TWR. >> <<They even had a female assistant who was preparing tea and coffee for TWR. >> |
The equipment was ancient history, but what you expect for a class D airspace What's with all the photos guys, the place is still there! |
Also it has been bought by someone and has now reopened.
|
This thread is in the ATC section, so let's keep our views focused on that aspect.
Comments on the use of the airfield and type of operations are probably better on the thread in Private Flying. Pictures, etc, are probably better finding a thread on the Spectators Balcony :ok: |
By my statement I only meant that probably they were busy so they were training another ATC, by mentioning that she was a female I was only trying to be graphic. :}
Anywho, I remember vividly that the ATC told me that EGKA was class D, I asked him: what?! He confirmed that it was class D, which surpriesed my instructor as well. We might be wrong, I searched it and couldn't find anything. |
I recently read a reference to Shoreham Airport as "Brighton International Airport" - I don't think it was on April 1st!
|
get out your dictionary out before posting 24 years of aviation experience as what? Correspondent for "Flight"? "Flyers" and ATC don't make anything out of it. The first may get a contribution to fuel costs and expenses, the latter work it as part of their roster, at the most get time off in lieu. (although you may be right about Niknak - he has most angles covered.) |
ER...what post 25?
Censorship is a very pernicious thing. How can any one who read 'anotherthing's' previous post WITHOUT the rest of the posts being there fully understand the comments?
It would seem that my posts about the often FOLLY of airshows have been 'booked burned'.:suspect: WHODOUDO |
Yes, because it's an ATC Forum, for ATC issues. Meandering comments about 'spotting', charities, and airshow accidents are not of any relevance to ATC unless you link them to aspects of our profession. You didn't.
If you want to debate the folly of air shows or otherwise, then pick a more appropriate forum. There's Private Flying or Aviation History for starters. Censorship can be used to remove posts which break the rules, but it also has a use to remove chaff which is of no relevance to a particular area of PPRuNe, usually where the poster has evidently not read the specific Forum description. |
PPrune radar
1 state 'spotting' refs in any of of my posts. Deleted by yourself or not. Presumably yourself.
2 State the 'rules I have broken' 3 BDIONU raised the charity issue. Why did those posts/comments not get deleted like mine??? 4 raised an extended post about the ATC consequences of a serious aviation accident..did not post through this forum, after submission. About as serious an ATC post post as you could get...alerting action etc. Please return my posts to this thread. I run a website myself...if I happen to gain a post I do not personaly agree with. I DO NOT CENSOR IT, however invite others to give their views. Some would say the Holocaust never happened...would u censor that. WHODOUDO |
Where are my posts?
I refer to the title of my post.
For censorship/deletion? How much money EXACTLY went to charity from the EGKA air show??? And all of it went to RAFA? All people on pensions! No other charities out there? AS PPrune Radar has complained...no alerting action by ATC then? No other ATC agencies involved..I think not! Please do not patronise me PPruNe Radar!!! WHODOUDO |
WHODOUDO Your rants are making less and less sense and have little or no relevance to ATC

I don't think Mr. Radar is truly "censoring" these particular posts at all..... merely sensibly "editing" them, to keep the thread relevant.
He has also suggested better places for the edited bits to be placed, so not exactly denying anything either. rgds BEX |
Those with far more power and command on PPRuNe than I, have decided we can have a week's rest from the non ATC rants :ok:
