Who's Happy??

Simple question. Where is the best and worst place to work?

expediteoff 17th Mar 2008 21:30

Got to be Heathrow.

Heathrow "retention allowance" in the offing - it's got to be the way ahead

GunkyTom 18th Mar 2008 12:25

Having worked inside and outside NATS, I have to say the Channel Islands. Good money, 5 min commute, generally better weather than the mainland. Obviously less traffic a/c wise which may or may not appeal but it does have its own challenges. You work to live not live to work here:cool:

niknak 18th Mar 2008 14:12

We get paid within 10% of NATS rates, a very nice area to live, reasonable management, reasonable rosters, equitable share of early go's and late starts, good equipment and working environment.
More to the point, when we need staff, we don't need to advertise - nuff said:hmm:

GunkyTom 18th Mar 2008 15:34

NIKNAK sounds very nice, where is it ?

flowman 18th Mar 2008 16:40

Flow management in Brussels.
Excellent remuneration (daren't say how much), 43 days leave a year, excellent working environment and everybody hates it. So maybe the worst place to work despite all that?
Everyone's on strike at the moment so that has to be a clue!

Any vacancies in the Channel Islands?

"Retention Allowance"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wonder if the exodus of staff to sunnier climes had anything to do with that? I can't see rest of NATS controllers sitting by and watching that one being eased in!!!!!!

GunkyTom 18th Mar 2008 17:02

FLOWMAN- check pm's and bear in mind low tax when looking at salaries

I'm not joking sir 18th Mar 2008 17:51

How many of us need to say we're leaving our unit before we get the bung too? We're not at OR and three of us are mulling offers to leave...

I'm happy - I retired from the FAA on 2/29 and work as an airline dispatch supervisor now, haven't been this happy in a long time!

porra 19th Mar 2008 13:08

FACT

Cape Town the best by far!!

Have worked in Europe and ME - CT takes 1st prize - great management, enough off time, only 1 or 2 not-so-nice colleagues, best city in the world and salary's not too bad either..

Wee Jock 19th Mar 2008 14:18

I'm very happy, but I'm a domestic engineer now - don't know how I found time to go to work. Missus, four kids and the dog to look after - must go and sort the laundry.
:ok::ok::ok:

Porra,

Is that why external recruitment is only ever advertised for Jo'burg? :)

Retired?

Hi CF,

Why you asking? Last I heard you were retired. Don't go back!

Just realized - your original post probably wasn't for your benefit.

See you soon...:) :)

HM79 22nd Mar 2008 18:44

Who's Happy?

I am surprised that this thread is not overwhelmed by folks raving about how great it is to work for NATS!!! I wonder why that should be?;)

Bright-Ling 29th Mar 2008 20:24

Dry your eyes Brizzle boy.

Amazed that any of you wezzcountry folk even know what a compooooter is.
