ENR 84

Is there anyone on this course (or any other course) that would be intereseted in setting up a share house? I'm looking to find somewhere close to the airport.

constipated 15th May 2013 21:26

New_atc,

I'm on this course too, and I'm still trying to sort out accommodation; so I'll send you a PM.

Thirsty003 16th May 2013 09:51

I emailed asa and was told applications would be open again soon.

sunnySA 16th May 2013 10:08

And I have heard that there may be another ad later in the year for experienced ATCs (to capture those who missed the cut-off last time).

Pauloswindon 17th May 2013 11:35

Finished my verification tests, diagramatic and spatial awareness tests for the international experienced air traffic control positions. My brain decided to take a nap during the diagramatic reasoning. Only answered 33 out of 40. Wrong time to bail out on me. Oh well just have to hope, wait and see. Good luck to all the other candidates

Fatty182 17th May 2013 11:46

Pauloswindon: I wouldn't worry too much, I only answered about that many in the time allotted, I think it matters more that you get the ones you answer correct than how many (unless of course someone answers like 5, they might have a problem with that :P)

I don't think the tests matter anyways me thinks...It's just a filter.... Good luck guys...

Pauloswindon 18th May 2013 19:41

Fatty182: thanks for the reply. Given me a bit more hope. Waiting will be over soon

Smart Casual??

I'm going in for my assessment next week. According to the email I received, dress code is smart casual. I find it strange to go to an interview in anything other than a suit, but obviously this isn't what they want. What sort of attire did people find to be go on the day?

For smart casual, I would go with the crisp, pressed long-sleeved shirt coupled with black pants and leather loafers (or other "business shoes").

Would they actually fault you for wearing a suit? I doubt it.

Re: Dress Code.

Elias.K

I went to the assessment day last week in Brisbane. most of us wore slacks or something similar and open neck dress shirts.

Cheers D.

Hi, sorry if it comes across as a bit lazy (don't fancy reading back through all the posts), but when was the last closing date for international experienced ATCO positions?

Cheers!

Edit: Actually I´ve just gone back a page and saw Aril 30th...but was that available to non-Aus/NZ residents??

Elias.K 22nd May 2013 02:39

Pedypie, I'm guessing we are worrying more about this than what it's worth. I think Tequila is on the money.

My main concern till the day is to work on some sample tests online to practice diagrammatic and special reasoning problems along with all the stuff they tested us on in the online test as we will be re-tested on this. As has been said in here often, you really can't do much to prepare, but practicing these things will help me walk into the day more relaxed knowing I have done what I can.

DD70, thanks for the heads up and good luck.. Any idea when you will hear on how you went? How does the testing on the day compare to the online test?

Hi everyone,

Just passed my assessment day and have have had my references called. Does anyone know what the next enroute courses are for brisbane and melbourne. Also whats are some good places to look for accommodation in Melbourne?

Thanks :)

Elias.K 28th May 2013 00:20

Hi Mav,

When did you go for your Assessment? I had mine yesterday, they were very vague on how long it takes to find out. 2 weeks was briefly mentioned as a very rough guide.

Experience ATC online skills testing

I recently applied for experience ATC position in Airservices Australia and my application is successful. Please if someone can help me to find out the structure of the Training Needs Analysis (TNA) / Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and the online skills testing. I have no clue about online skills testing. can someone help me please?
Highly appreciate your kind assistance

thanks a lot!

Clear2Land78 31st May 2013 18:11

Hi Aratck

Hey! I applied in November 2012. I made it through the initial paperwork application, then some online testing (aptitude and easy psycho test). After that, I had a panel interview where they had called me over here in the USA. After that, they had me go to a testing center to take the same tests basically I took the first time. And lastly, last night, one of my references received a phone call asking about me. He said he spoke highly of me (and yes, it was true! lol). Hope that helps. If you have questions, I will be more than happy to try to help since I am going through the process now. Best of luck!

Airservices Assessment Day

Hello, I had my phone interview with Airservices on Monday the 24th. They said I will have an answer by the end of that week. It is now almost two weeks and no email. Has anybody heard from Airservices concerning an upcoming assessment day?

Elias.K 6th Jun 2013 04:12

Axlegoose and Watermelon,

To give you an idea of timeframes. I did my online test late in the evening and got an email the next morning asking me to book a phone interview. At the end of the phone interview I was told that I made it through to the final assessment. So I knew from the phone call that I got through. The assessment ended being about 4-6 weeks later. Now I'm waiting to find out how my assessment went.

This is my experience, doesn't necessarily have a bearing on what you should expect.

Anyone who did an assessment end of May heard anything yet? I'd imagine they will be calling referees soon.

Airservices Assessment Day

Hey Watermelon,

You are correct, my phone interview was on the Monday (27th). I took the online testing on Friday the 24th and had an email prompting me to book a date for a phone interview 10 minutes after I finished the test. The interviewer told me that I will have an answer by the end of that week. I felt that the interview went really well. I am thinking of giving them a call early next week if I do not get an answer by then.

Assessment Day

Hello Watermelon,

I just got a response and have gone through to the assessment day. I have to pick a day for early August. Hope you got good news as well!

I was wondering if I can visit a Tower before my assessment day. I would love to see how the working environment is. If anybody has any tips on how to organize this, could you please share with me.

Thank you!

Knackers 28th Jun 2013 08:04

Axlgoose,

Check your PMs.

I recently applied and feel that I would be above level and ready for approach within 6 months. Would I immediately go to a level 5 pay scale straight away?

Duane 4th Jul 2013 07:03

Shags; are you an experienced controller?

if you arent then no you wont go straight to pay scale 5 (and may not even if you are)

shags_j 4th Jul 2013 08:40

No. But I was a traffic controller. Can't be that much different.

Duane 4th Jul 2013 09:29

Shags, not sure I understand. Do you have experience in the Aviation industry as an air traffic controller or not?

what is a traffic controller and how is it similar to ATC?

shags_j 4th Jul 2013 10:06

See what happens when you leave your phone unattended at work? Disregard the last two posts.

Assessment Centre

Congrats to Axlgoose and Watermelon.
I think I was in the same round as you guys for the online testing (had to finish by 26th May). You guys seem to have done your phone interview pretty much straight after the online testing on the 27th May but I only got notified for the phone interview late June (done on Wed June25th). Just like you guys, the interviewer had advised I'd likely hear back by end of that week. But now its over a week old and no replies as yet.
Did anyone do the online testing at end of May but only did the phone interview last week by any chance??
