LVP's
Hi Guys,
Not having any aerad docs at home please can a kind soul help me out. When do LHR implement LVP (ie cloudbase and RVR), and how much do the conditions vary throughout the UK? Thanks |
LHR, simply put when the IRVR is less than 600m and/or the cloud ceiling is 200ft or less.
There's also a new tower in cloud procedure with the new tower in operation, can't remember the wx limits for it though :O |
I thought this was a state of the art tower, surely with those fancy wing / fin things they can simply descend to maintain VMC!!
|
TIO, 'fraid not....However, that red light half way up goes up and down to give all an indication of the outbound delay. Each floor is an increment of 10minutes.
|
OK - someone has to ask - how many floors.................
|
Damn it............:ugh: :O
15? 16? Guessing now..... |
Not bad for a guess! And honestly Mike, I was guessing how many 'floors' the light had to go up and down!
Technically there's plenty more, because IIRC there's a 'porthole' on every other level, going by the internal stair well. |
I heard that the light was directly linked to Costa, the more their prices go up, so does the light and the delay!! ;)
|
Costa? We haven't got time to make it there anymore!!! :{
|
You just have access to the tower type facilities now? I hope they upgraded the coffee / tea machines for you?
I'll have to come down for a visit soon. Is it a complete pain as its airside, I guess a BAA pass is needed too? |
Seem to recall from my visit, according to the lift there are only ten floors. The buggers are quite far apart though. The first thing I did when I got out of the sardine tin lift at the top was hug the bloody wall!!!!!!
Did they sort the rainex out? When I was there it was raining and you couldn't see a lot, typical!!!!!! |
Yeah, the lift goes from floor zero to floor ten (so technically eleven I guess), but some 'floors' are separated by four flights of stairs, rather than two. It gets very confusing.
The rain sticking to the window has been reported (as it was before we moved in by me:p) and things are in progress apparently. TIO: yes, if you come for a visit you'll need to suffer the BAA's ID application process to get a temporary airside pass. |
