I am not aware of the requirement to undertake a 'cube test' prior to the acquisition of a UK driving licence.
The difference is Zooker is that it doesnt cost over half a million quid to learn to drive, so its a 'give it a try' type of environment, can you imagine how much money would be wasted if every single applicant went through to training after a face to face 'standard' interview.

Anyway congratulations Ezy!

www.English.com

There is a forum on the above link where everyone can cream themselves over correct spellings, grammar and general Englishness.
Enjoy

Thanks to the Mods for sticking this!:ok:

Is it worth having a 'read this first' highlight so that people don't just start their own threads? Might pre-emptively decrease mod workload in merging threads, etc.

Well done, I have read on this thread that most ppl feel they did really bad on the computer tests, but then go on to pass!! Good luck with stage 3!

Only 11 months and two weeks to go before I can re-sit my stage 1 :bored:

EzyChic 28th Jul 2008 17:19

Book

At stage one, they recommended a book to read if yo passed stage one.

In my dopeyness, I forgot what it was.

Anyone know?

As for the sticky...I spent 2 bloody days wondering where the thread had gone. :-s

ZOOKER 28th Jul 2008 18:09

EzyChic,
Probably 'Air Traffic Control' by Graham Duke (Ian Allan). Graham is, I believe, a retired civil engineer, but he really knows his stuff. This excellent book is in about it's 9th edition!

Just completed Stage 1 this morning. I thought I was doing okay until I came up against the "CUBES"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thought they were hard only completed 3/4 of the paper!

Briggykins 30th Jul 2008 14:42

Ronnie, when I went (back in 2001) the cube examples they showed you in the practice paper were tiny little 3x3 thingies which I had no problem with. The ones in the actual paper were misshapen monstrosities that made my brain scamper off in fear (hence a failure). Are they still big and scary or have they toned em down a bit?

lafouine 30th Jul 2008 14:53

Hi Ronnie,

Well hope you get through to stage 2!!
I think everyone find them difficult.

I have my stage 1 coming up this Friday in Belfast.
Anyone else doing it in Belfast??

fingers crossed!!! :O

ronnie1974 30th Jul 2008 15:19

Mishapen monsters I'm afraid! The first few weren't too bad. You get familiar with one type then they go and change them and change the layout too!!

The cubes on the Qantas document are good practice so are the cubes on the NATS practice paper. However, your brain does get a little fried when trying to answer the 40 questions.

I know what I'll be dreaming about tonight!!

work experiance/visits

Hi.I've recently joined this forum and have just been trying to soak up the vast bank of information here. Its been really helpful. I just wanted to ask whats the best way of getting a tower visit or work experiance arranged for a few days. I live in London so ideally....if possible i'd love to visit Heathrow or Gatwick but i wouldn't know where to start/who to contact.I also live quite near to Biggin Hill airport, i've done some flying experiance days down their but i still wouldn't know exactly how to go about arranging a visit to see the ATC their. If anyone has arranged any visits to these places it'd be great if you could give me some more information. Or just general information about how others have gained tower visits.
