I recently sent my off my application form and am awaiting further info.

One question: does anyone have any statistics/a rough estimate of the percentage of people who make it through stage1/2/3? I've heard the statistic '3%' a lot but I was wondering where most people fail.

I'm sure I'll have more questions if/when I do the interview stages.

i did my stage 1 assessment yesterday... very confused about the results... when can i expect them??

and well... on the positive end.... how do i prpare for the assessment 2... can someone gimme an idea...???

taking abt the stage 2 assessment..

i see from the NATS site that... they are:

NATS assessment
FEAST battery test
SDM

but i hardly understand what they mean.. can someone tell me wat they are? is there any preparations that i can do to make myself competent enough...

HELP!!! am so serious abt this job... any help would be most appreciated..

well, I just took the online test and I think i completely cocked it up.

This is made worse by the fact that I got so close to getting in last year and this year I even paid for a CAA medical out of my own pocket to prove that my eye sight was up to the required standard.

So very disappointed with myself. :(

Well Notnek, I don't know whether my example is similar to others but when I did my first assessment at the end of June there were 15 of us to begin with. However, after the ATC Test and the Numeracy test EIGHT of the group were sent home. So that is over half of candidates are sifted out in the first 40 minutes of assessments!

From that statistic I would think that a success rate of 3% is very reasonable.

I have my second assessment on August 10th down at Fareham so fingers crossed!

WbATC, I took my first assessment on the Friday and got an email the following Monday week (6 working days later) asking me to complete the on-line Personality Test. I did this on the same day and the following morning I had an e-mail inviting me to Assessment 2.

All I know about assessment 2 is that you can't really prepare for it. I saw something on Wikipedia that gave a brief idea. Like the earlier assessment I guess it is designed to test the areas that are deemed to be important strengths in order to succeed in becoming an ATC. Problem solving; logical thought processes; and reaction times for instance. I dont know anything about a Collision Avoidance Test but one of the 'games' on the NATS website seems to test that to an extent - I managed to get to level 6 before my birds started falling out of the sky :(

Hi, I'm new to this I have already read a lot of this thread but haven't been able to find what im looking for.

I applied to NATS at the beginning of June and took the online checking test as requested by them but I haven't heard anything back for over a month now, is this a rejection or is it normal to wait this long?

In the email i received, next to my name was a number over 10000 does this mean where i'm placed in the queue to hear from them or is this just a number?

I'd be grateful if anyone can help me on this as I'm eager to get myself in :)

You mean the pre-stage 1 test? A month is definitely too long for that, either email them or reapply.

Just a quick reply to whoever was asking about the numbers that pass.

3% or so of those who start stage1 make it through to the college. However, be prepared to then lose some of your coursemates during that time to.

As a rough idea, out of our course of 29, only 5 made it all the way through the college without needing to re-take one (or more) courses. Of the remaining 24, half were chopped along the way.

If you get to the college, then you can feel happy to be one of the chosen few, but make sure you then work like hell to keep it that way.

Regarding stage3, the interview is as you would expect any interview to be - strengths, weaknesses, examples of life skills, how you worked with others etc etc. Read up on everything you have been sent, and be prepared to put over just why this is the job you want, and how your skills reflect why you would be good at it.

Does anyone know if there is a general emotion from the people that don't get through the training course? Is there a lot of regret or are most people glad they did it?

Also, are there related jobs which a lot of failed trainees choose as a career or is it mostly ' back to square one'?

And also what the dress code will need to be, is it going to have to be a suit?

There isn't a dress code for stage 1, it's very informal.
