What's the bit about the subscription service.
I want to buy the ICAO 1:500,000 Chart of Southern England & Wales. Will I get free updated versions of the chart sent to me? Or will it charge me an extra £13.99 every time it's updated?

It will charge you!
Just get the one-off.

You can also buy them from most GA airfields / flight schools.

Maps of 'Airways' (albeit not available for navigation) can be had from AIS for free.
