Thanks guys for your help tonight getting across the London area. Crap in the sky and it must have been a nightmare for you on the ground. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

In TC we have no weather radar for us ATCO's to see when we are working. There is a 'MIST' system on the Supervisors desk, but this is not very good. Weather Radar has been requested for many years , but our Management are still phaffing around and have not obtained one yet.
At least they are talking about its need though.
I believe there is an urgent need for its provision.

Do you have weather radar at Birmingham!?!?!?

As a TC bod I get frustrated at the lack of weather info on the radar.

Flying EGGP-EGLK today we had some very accurate weather info from a kind (and busy) controller, which exactly matched our Garmin display.

Just wondered how he knew that the heading he gave would take us straight through a small gap in the cells!?

Thanks anyway- Great service Brum!

Just finished an afternoon shift at Luton Tower. Never seen a Thunderstorm like it, ground strikes all around us, and we were 150ft in the air!!

Well done to all the guys and gals at TC, it must have been horrendous. :ok:

LHR - ATC - Wx delays

Departed from LHR late 28th on long long flt. ATC chaps and supporting controllers that night were great.

Odd bits of humour from guys also made the task easier.
Difficult situation for all of us (Pilots trying to get our aircraft dispatched with few pax who probably do not appreciate the effort it took from all of us - ATC and ground personal etc)

Well done LHR and anyone else on duty that night.

Very sad story local to me, a local golfer who was heading for cover from the arriving TS was struck and killed on Tues evening.

The intensity of the storm was certainly unusual for UK climes.

I was driving down the M42 past BHX at the height of Tuesday's storms. Terrific lightning intensity all around. Runway 15 was in use and departures were all making an immediate right hand turn through a gap of clear sky to the SW but what surprised me was that aircraft were still landing seemingly from the direction of the main cell. Is this normal procedure?

I was flying last night to LHR. The weather was awful, but as always the London ATC/Heathrow controllers were excellent. Thanks guys, I can imagine it's awful for you on days like that!:ok:
