ContAct or cOntact?
When I was a student of ATC school they taught us to say contAct in aviation English.
But I can't find that stress in English dictionary. |
c-c
If you want to avoid saying "contact..." Try saying: "report your heading to..." or "report your speed to..." |
Dear chulman-control, the pronunciation of the word "contact" depends on whether it is being used as a noun, for example "I am in contact with you" or a verb, for example " contact me tomorrow". The noun form is always pronounced "cOntact" but the verb form can be pronounced either "cOntact" or "contAct". In modern English usage, however, the latter form "contAct" is rarely heard.
