need info
Hi Chaps,
Could someone give me a contact for ATC training in the UK. I have been flying commercially for 7 yrs, but have lost my medical, so looking at other careers. Email me at [email protected]. Cheers |
Hello Bertha,
I'd check out the medical requirements for ATC before spending a single penny on ATC training or anything else, ATC's also have annual medical check's, and you may have a problem there. As to the ATC training, goto www.atchome.com and check out the database section, do a search for ATC's in Bournemouth and ask them. Not being a UK ATC myself, that is the best I can do for you. Best Regards and sorry to hear about the medical situation. Fweeeeeeep |
In the UK controllers also need a class 1 medical, although it's possible the parameters are less stringent (the validity is, I know). I'll e-mail you my details, be happy to tell you as much as I can.
Luck! ;) AP ------------------ Once more unto the breach, Dear Friends... |
Aerodrome controllers only require a CAA Class 2 medical, but you will need a Class 1 for NATS. SERCo would help you part with money and tell you the requirements at (01225) 858941. Good Luck!

UK ATCO's need a Class 1 Medical, so if you've lost your flying Class 1 I'm afraid it doesn't look good.

The ATCO Class 1 actually differs from the Pilot class 1. A friend of mine has to hold BOTH to fly and control (not at the same time hopefully). The main difference I think are the stress tests that the pilots have to do. I think it is taken as read that controllers are stressed, so they don't bother trying to find out the extent of the stress *laughs*
