Accommodation in Bournemouth
 

Guys,

I am due to start at CATC on 6th Dec. I am looking for some digs in bournemouth and have been trawling the net. I was wondering if any of you who have been, or are still at the college can recommend any B&B's (preferrably with internet connection(s)), or rented accommodation, such as a bedsit, studio flat or flat sharing options.

I stayed at the Westbourne for 3 months then the Clematis for 3 months, both in the upper class area of Boscombe.

They were, shall we say, interesting places run by eccentrics but we had a hell of a laugh. Shame the Seagull isn't there anymore as that just topped it all off!!!:ok: :ouch:

If you are thinking of renting a place, try Bournecoast on Southbourne Grove in Southbourne (01202 428717). They do holiday lets which you can rent out in the off season. They are fully furnished and really nice inside. Im staying in one, and it is much nicer than living in a B n B for months at a time.

I am also starting on 6th December.

By preparation, just what are you referring to?:uhoh:

If you want to do some preparation you could perhaps brush up on your aircraft recognition skills, that will save you some time when you get here.

Sorry about the delay with the accommodation list, I haven't had a great deal of spare time this week with all the exams. I can't seem to find my copy but I'll get a new one on Monday and forward it to those of you who have requested it.

Brushing up on your A/c recognition skills isn't a bad idea. If you can even manage to get a rough idea of the performance figures it will save you a lot of time as you'll have to learn to recognise and rhyme off the vortex cat, ICAO designator, cruise speed (Mach + Knots) and service ceiling of 50 aircraft :E

If you're familiar with the Trevor Thom range of books for the PPL exams, have a glance through them. A basic knowledge of things like law, met nav etc. will help you tremendously.

When I was down at PPSC I was lucky enough to hit upon a great bed and breakfast that was very quiet and proved instrumental in getting this non-academic through my ATPL exams in the first sitting by having somewhere to study.

Its called the Willowdene Hotel on Grande Avenue, its a stones throw from the beach (for those long walks to clear your head) its run by Mary & Roger and amber the cocker spaniel. The food was great and is a 5 minute car journey from the airport.

I was last there in 1999 but I cant imagine the place changing much (apart from maybe the decor).

The place is very clean and all rooms have their own En Suite etc etc. They also discount if you book for the duration of your course.
