Farnborough OJT

Hi all.
To anyone out there at Farnborough,I'm doing 5 weeks OJT there starting Oct 4th.Wonder if any of you guys could give me a heads-up on what to expect.Spoken to a few instructors at the College who used to work there and photocopied the (many) relevant pages of the AIP.
Any info greatly appreciated,
Cheers,
mr.777

Hope you chatted Nicky up - she used to be the boss there.

The boss at EGLF is a good egg, I used to work with him at LATCC. Hopefully you won't have any problems. What I can remember it's the busiest LARS unit in the UK. But if you're only doing tower then you won't see that unless of course you ask to sit and watch the radar for a few sessions, well worth it.

You will find the gang at Farnborough are great. They will make you feel very welcome. The Boss is a great fella! Tower is very new and shiny and if you like the look of biz jets then you will enjoy the scenery. ATC do runway inspections so they will have you out in "ATC 1" as soon as poss!! Take in as much as you can and spend time downstairs too if able. Just make the most of it and remain enthusiastic but I guess that goes for any OJT placement. Oh... and take the stairs at least once!:D

HEATHROW DIRECTOR 28th Sep 2004 13:28

<The Boss is a great fella!>

He speaks about a dozen languages and plays hockey so if you're into any of that you're made!!

And if you really want to get on his good side, he's very partial to a nice bottle of red wine or Single Malt Whisky (but if he ever tells you that tequila is good for cleansing the pallet, don't believe him! it WILL end in tears).

(And when you see him, tell him the Aussie says Hi!)

<<but if he ever tells you that tequila is good for cleansing the pallet>>

Strewth! I think he means palate... I HOPE he means palate!

Jerricho 28th Sep 2004 16:41

Aww crap............when he trained me, he tried to teach me to spell as well. := :=

Although, the stuff he had could probably clean loads of different things..............like an engine.

Last OJT we had was on a course just ahead of you initials are CO to give you a clue. Suggest you have a chat with him and he will put you right. Looks like you are coming to our Watch, we are quite friendly as long as you do not talk about banding  I am sure you will enjoy it as much as we do:p
If you really want to take the stairs you are on your own pal!!
Runway inspections are a part of life at LF, get in early enough and you can have a free trip in a white Freelander
We are not in on the 4th but will be on the 5th so see you then.

You might be well advised to turn up in a skirt and high heels - the WM is looking forward to a fluffy little chick!
