Eurocontrol Selection Day

Have kindly been granted a Eurocontrol selection day this Friday (only found out this morning!) and was wondering if anyone could shed light on a few things for me :-

1) I live MAN, so the only flt I can get to MST is via AMS, at a cost of around 450 quid - will they still reimburse the whole lot?

2) What should I expect on the day?

Many Thanks, MR.

Yes, Eurocontrol should reimburse the full amount for the flight.

When I did my selection for Eurocontrol, the process was undertaken in Hamburg. I had to go along for 2 separate weekends as they went through all the tests.

Phase 1 used to be 2 days of paper based tests and desk exercises, including an exercise lasting 90 minutes listening to similar sounding letters on a headset to test your attention period for a monotonous task!

Phase 2 (the 2nd weekend) consisted of some eye-hand coordination exercises on a radar skills trainer, i.e. guiding an aircraft through a snake avoiding the opposite direction traffic. When you get through this series of exercises, there is the Interview (conducted by a panel of 3, including 2 controllers) and observed by 3 psychologists. The final part of Phase 2 is a stringent medical.

As I say, all my tests were conducted in Hamburg, and the process has changed since.

I hope you will be as fortunate as I was <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

Minimum Rest...

I sat the tests for Eurocontrol last May...It basically consists of 3 hours of computer tests that measure your English, maths, spatial reasoning, responses etc.

The first time I went I did Easy jet LPL to AMS (£50 rtn) then KLM to MST (£100 rtn).

When I went back for my interview I then went BA MAN to AMS (£69) and again KLM to MST (£100 rtn).

To make it more enjoyable, halfway thru my testing my laptop crashed :)

Hope this helps a bit

Yeah, thought about the EZY option but can't get flights to tie in with the connection to MST. Had to book all through with KLM with a grand total of 407 quid. Mind you, the MAN - AMS bit would've been 397 quid alone, so it's not so bad. BA MAN - AMS was over 500 quid!

Anyway, thanks for the info, back Saturday so I'll let ya know!

So, MR, how did it go?

PS the train from AMS to Maastricht and then 61 bus from Maastricht to the Airport is pretty easy. However I'd rather spend 2.5h waiting for a connection in Schiphol than 2.5h on a train from one end of the country to another.

Hi, scored 618, meaning I passed, yeah!

Wasn't in the top 12 for this month sadly, so been placed on the reserve list. A guy who attended with me scored 648 and got to go straight back, so hopefully that means I'm near the top. Thanks for asking, and I'll keep you posted.

Took the KLM via AMS option in the end, all very well but wasn't too keen on the AMS - MST sector. ATR 42 + wind is not pleasant. Maybe I'll take the choo choo and enjoy the scenery next time, just for a change

All is not lost. You are in the reserve list, so if someone can't make it you may be called. There was a girl there at the same time as me (hello Ksenia!) who was in this position.

PS there is no scenery to enjoy between AMS and Maastricht railway station. The nice bit is out of the window of the bus just after you get out of Maastricht. A few nice northern-French style chateaux on the right, and, believe it or not, a hill or two. However geological factors soon put a stop to this and it becomes flat and boring once again.

Hills? Noooo........! :)

So did you get thru?
