fantastic storm LHR
Not fantastic for the poor ATCOs but WOW mother nature certainly put on a good show this afternoon over LHR its still raging at present with no Apps being made.Thunder and lightning was just non stop with vis down to 800 mtrs due to torrential hail/rain,so good it gave me a right wonky donkey! :O :O :O
and now theres another cell coming up from the south,me thinks theres gonna be some diversions taking place soon |
Soooo glad I'm retired... although I wouldn't mind being there mixin' it!

Welcome to our world, we get to see that sort of things ALL the time <sigh>... One good thing, at least they give us primary radar to see the stuff <G>...

Heathrow Director
Could you pas my thanks to the guys at West Drayton for pulling me ( AF257 B ) out of the Tiger hold. My fuel would have been right at the limit had I had to wait until my EAT. They saved me from premature aging and diverting. It was a beautifull job and my yankee friend above, I don't mean to blow the wind out of your sail but you are not even near to equating the quality of job the Poms provide. It starts with english :))) |
Wallabie... I'd love to pass your thanks but I'm retired and by the time I see any ex-colleagues this will be history.
However, many of them will undoubtedly read this and I'm sure your thanks will be very much appreciated. It was always a huge delight to be able to help a crew. Best regards.. |
Walabie;
I was speaking of thunderstorms and the quality of those... Sorry to hear you don't like our service much... regards Scott |
Don't be too down-hearted Scott.......we still love ya! :)
|
Thanks 360;
I'm not to worried about the comments, as a controller (and part time peace officer) my skin is rather thick (as is my body <G>). So it doesn't bother me what others may think. We know what we do, how we do it, and what sort of through put we provide <G>... Speaks for itself... regards Scott |
wallabie - the pleasure was ours. It did mean, however, that you joined the top of the Ockham stack although you were ahead in the sequence of just about everyone below you. That was the reason for the tour of North London.
Did you see the new Wembley Stadium arch as you flew past it? ;) ;) |
Sounds like the weather at EGLL was good today as well, we got a lovely note from the chaps in Brussels notifying a nil approach rate for one hour due wx!
Bet that was fun! TIO |
Scott, for what it's worth, I've always been impressed how ATCOs in the US push tin around some of the busiest airports in the world. But, yes, they don't always make it easy for the non native speakers. I remember on appr to LAX once how I had great difficulty in understanding any of one particular controller's transmissions, many of which were to foreign carriers. He made life more difficult for himself with the many "say agains".

Avman;
Shoot, there are some folks who "I" have a hard time understanding :p Part of our problem stems from dealing with mainly folks who speak nothing but a form of english :{ regards Scott |
The only truly universal language in the world is 'bad' English!
