A3 at LGW - Quickie

Any ideas whats happening with A3? Driven past it quite a few times recently towards M1. Probably an easy answer, but I couldn't figure it.

Cracking-up

The surface between A3 & A1 is in a really bad state, mainly thanks to the recent excessive temperatures, made worse by the addition of hot jet exhaust as a/c move up to A1.

So, current practice, until it can be sorted, is to only use the A3-A1 section if it's unavoidable. Unfortunately, sorting it out (ie resurfacing the whole area) is going to be a right royal pain in the @rse for 26L ops, as you can well imagine

Thanks,

Guess we will be into M1 and B ops then....

Expect A3 to be back in use by Thursday morning. They're going to attack it this week during night time Northern Runway ops.

It'll 'officially' be closed all day Wednesday when there'll be a 40mm ramp in the surface and a raised centreline, resurface it Wednesday night and re-open it on Thursday morning.

Good job we're on easterlies at the minute..!!

:p
