Terrible RT

This topic is inspired by the 737 ditching thread that’s rumbling on in Rumours & News.

I’ve seen crew shut down the only live engine in the sim, I’ve seen pilots with RoC exceeding 6,000ft/min to avoid TCAS in the sim, I’ve seen skippers go flying with unreliable speed indications at 80 knots, I’ve seen FOs unable to land in the touchdown zone once in three days of training and be released back onto the line, I’ve seen Captains stuff up EFATO because they “didn’t expect it” in the sim…. I’ve even met a flat earther. And plenty of anti-vaxxers.

But in nigh on twenty years of flying I’ve never sat next to someone abusing 121.5 with cat calls, football commentary, audio from p0rn or general inappropriate behaviour. BUT I have heard them on 121.5.

My question is on an anonymous forum to the pilots who do do that kind of thing; what’s the motivation? And to pilots who’ve witnessed it; what’s it like?

I reckon they must be biz jets and/or single pilot ops. Can't imagine that any commercial airline or cargo operator facilitate it.
