I know they were looking for Approach as well as Aerodrome controllers as far back as the summer, I think with the airport project being delayed until mid 2013 (at least), there probably is no hurry to hire, at the very least, Aerodrome controllers anytime soon.

That's my guess, I'd love to go to the Tower there!

Since the current package (and awful roster) has proven to be inadequate in attracting controllers, there are rumors in the air that something big may be in the works. Unlike Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Doha is a little slower at puling the money trigger to solve their problems.

But they do have money, supposedly lots of it.

The rumored date of parting with said money is in April 2013. Be nice to have one more unit competing for controllers.

Well I have sent my CV and tried to keep in contact to no avail; either it is because of the delays or because I suck, no one has told me. In any case, for me, a decent job is better than no job and I'd go to Doha ASAP if the offer came along.

Rule3,

I'd prefer to be in the ME to be welcomed but thank you anyway, I don't think you mean anything bad by it .

LoserGill, Doha is behind the UAE and Bahrain as far as development goes and unfortunately this holds true for their staffing efforts as well.

With the new airport opening in 2013 there is reason to believe that a more aggressive approach to staffing will be put in place by April of next year. (i.e. a better package and a willingness to have multiple trainees training at the same time.)

Unfortunately there's really nothing concrete I can offer you right now, just the rumors floating around.

Welcome to the Middle East

Loser Gill et al.
It is an oft used saying in the Sandpit.
Unanswered emails, lost CVs, people not keeping appointments, smoke and mirror projects, etc etc. and that is just the tip of the Sand Dune.
Do you get my drift?

Drifting sand covers all.
