Hi Veloo,

KUL will be having 3rd runway by 2013

Your meaning KLIA @ Sepang yes? 3 parallels, never part of the original airport plan, has traffic increased that much?

KUL 3rd Rwy

Hi RustyNail..that's right..it was never part of the original plan
but due to the new KLIA2 project (LCCT for budget airlines)
in the near future. The 3rd Rwy is left of the present 32L(nearer to the coast).
Work is underway and we are looking into the new SID's and
STAR's.Basically all AirAsia will be parked at the new Terminal.
Cheers

Traffic hasn't really increased that much - used to hold but then get 6-7nm spacing on finals - it's just the location of the new terminal which makes using the eastern runway impractical, so easier to create a new one. (???)

Will it be 2 landing 1 taking off, or mixed-mode on the third runway or....? Also is there any particular reason we always got 6 miles on finals or was it due to pilots not liking less? I gather radar performance and runways allowed the use of less because it occasionally happened.

Quite disappointed I was never able to visit the tower while I was out there, only got as far as KK.

SID and STARs..only

Does that mean you don't need new approach procedures for the third runway ?
