UAE ACC - The New Beginning

Well today is the day, our first live sectors change over so The End was certainly a bit premature.

There will always be a few glitches, that goes without saying, but the move will be sensational once complete and a new beginning that I am certainly proud to be part of.

The only issue that I may have is not reading my roster correctly and ending up in the wrong ACC, wrong time and with the wrong headset!!

This is indeed good news and once everything has settled in it should be a great place to work. Well done to everyone involved so far!

Not that anyone will be surprised. I'm thinking of starting a pot. Opening odds of 5/3 for. Any takers?

Thanks Falcon. The ideal situation would have been if all the APP units and the ACC could have been located in this building. God knows there's enough space. No wait, I have to think of my kids and my liver, not necessarily in that order though.

to all involved.

I would like to cruise down and visit, perhaps share a libation after. Would that involve miles of red tape? (DXB controller)

Once the dust settles (and there is lots! ) I am sure it will not be an issue especially as we are not located on the airport side so only the GCAA security to deal with, not the palaver you go through getting air side.

Vox, damn right mate...enough room to run a Grand Prix in there but as they are having one about 2 clicks away anyway we won't need to!

These pix were taken over a month ago so even more tidied up round the site now.

Main Building

Emergency ACC (3 times the size of our current one!)

The new office taking shape...and yes that is the Supes desk that stretches alllll the way from the left of your picture to right!

A state of Theakston's-induced confusion, there Verci?
Now, as this is a rumour website here be the rumour:
That the ghosting last night at the new centre anded in miserable failure. Apparently the whole shebang failed, radar, comms the lot.
One minute, your bitterness bubbling over with "rumours" of the new centre being an abject failure- the next, it's all good and congrats, boys!! Pretty hard to stomach that the bloke who replaced you after you were fired for incompetence is doing such a better job, I know, but.....give it a rest.

You sad old man.

Thumbs up shiny new toys

Good luck with it all lads (and ladette), the new centre looks the goods and is certainly a step, actually many, many steps up from the old broom closet.

just remember, 5 miles and 1000 feet.... (do as I say, not do as I do)

Cheerz DD!

Do I send the keys to your new locker to your work address or to your home address mate...assuming the leprechauns deliver out that way ? Don't bother bringing any warm clothes, nothing below 45 here in the last week or so! Feel free to use the boat while I'm away she needs a good run!

And why am I always the last to know about these new separation standards!??

Pistols at dawn gentlemen....with the drop of a white hanky and remember the rules:

In the case of pistol duels, each party shall fire one shot. If neither man is hit and if the challenger stated that he was satisfied, the duel will be declared over.

A pistol duel can continue until one man was wounded or killed, but to have more than three exchanges of fire will be considered barbaric and, if no hits were achieved, somewhat ridiculous!

One step at a time

Congratulations with the new ACC.

It will be great to see and experience.
It may not run perfectly in the beginning but with time and positive attitude it will be a great place.
One step at a time and the first one is already taken.

Cheers.

New ACC up and running?

I am sure the ATC equipment is working fine, but what about the most important support equipment? Yes, I'm talking about the promised coffee machine. Can anyone upload a pic perhaps?

Coffee machine in place!!!!

Fantastic news but I think you know where the new centre is located as your long lost coffee mug has been sighted next to the new machine. Now where is that washing up liquid?

My first day at the new office yesterday and was thoroughly impressed, truly enjoyable to go to work (in between Grand Prix of course!!)

Now can anybody tell me which door I am supposed to go in....the cleaners had to let me in the side door and laughed at me for the rest of the afternoon, come to think of it everybody was...I didn't have a clue where I was and what I was sposed to be doing!!

My parting shots from the arvo shift (was actually on a morning but it took me this long to find my way out!!)
