Has anybody who has applied in the latest round from new hires heard back yet? I know applications only closed last night, just seeing if they might have been processing them as they came in over the last 2 months.

SenZubEanS.

I submitted my application on the 24th June 2014.
I received a reply and offer to complete the online assessment on the 27th July.
I completed the online assessment on the 1st August.
I received a reply that I had successfully completed the online assessment on the 4th July.
I have just completed the new Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ). I now wait and see if I get a telephone interview and make it to the assessment day.

Good luck with your application.

Hi all,

Just logged on to the portal and my application status has changed from 'assessment day complete' to 'application outcome' so I'm 99.99% sure that means unsuccessful lol

Best of luck to all the new applicants and I'll confirm when I get my rejection email.. If I anyone has any questions regarding the process feel free to PM me but I'm not going to tell you about the assessment days activities..

Thanks DD70.
Seems a month for first contact is a common occurrence, so might be a another week before I hear back. I foolishly thought I could apply and then just put it out of my thoughts until I heard back... it's proving not to be the case haha

Any news JC91? Mine says the same and no news yet. Surely if it was a rejection the email wouldve come through already?

Not yet mate. As in understand it everyone else that seems to have gotten through go from assessment centre complete to reference checks.. I think...

Maybe someone else can confirm that was successful whether it was application outcome and then reference checks?

The two I have seen in the thread that change to application outcome have reported back within a few days that they receive their rejection letter.. On average about 3 days..

I got the email today too, pretty disappointing I'm tempted to apply again next year as soon as I can - but I'll also wait until I get the feedback to see if it is worth putting in the time and money again. Good luck to everyone moving through from this latest group of assessment days!

I was in Sydney on the 30th of July....so it only took just over a week to get the result back.

Just to add my personal application timeframe to the others in the thread:

-Invited for online testing on 12th March,
-Invited for phone interview on 28th May, with the interview the following week,
-Invited to book assessment centre day on 6th June,
-Assessment centre day on the 30th July,
-Outcome email on 8th August

Ah ok, I had a very similar timeline. Had my assessment in Sydney on the 28th of July (Monday). Anyone else on here have their assessment on the same day? It was a great bunch of guys and looking forward to hearing how they also went.

Cost of applying

Hi JLS,

Sorry to hear your outcome was not successful after such a long process.

I have applied for the first time in the latest round which has just recently closed - I see that you are also in Perth and cost is a factor in your decision to apply again. I have read through the entire thread, and it would seem that assessment centres are only run in the eastern states.

Is the travel the main cost that you refer to or did you also begin the medical certification process? And were you offered much choice in the location/date of assessment centres?

Nah, just the cost of travel in my case. Obviously if I got somewhat close, then I will definitely try again - but if it turns out that it would be a real stretch to get in on the second attempt, then yes, the costs of return flights and a hotel in Sydney weigh into it a bit. Just getting to that stage was a great experience and I don't have any regrets about it at all, but it is a decent amount of money to put into something again if it looks like the same outcome is likely.

I was only offered Sydney for my assessment centre and a choice of one of 3 consecutive dates about 7 weeks ahead. They do also run them in Brisbane and Melbourne (and also occasionally in Canberra?). Not too difficult to get flights to Melbourne or Sydney from Perth though, which I think they are most likely to give to Perth candidates for that reason.

I already met the medical and ASIC requirements due to having a PPL - I have had my Class 1 medical since early stages of that. I believe there is some sort of agreement where if you are successful in your application with Airservices and you need to go and do your medical, you can potentially claim the costs of it back - but don't quote me on that.

Good luck with your application!

They used to pay for the medical upfront a couple of years ago when I did it. They even booked it for me. Now, I believe the applicant pays for it, then gets remunerated when they start work.

That is indeed how it currently is.

Thank you

Hopefully I will get as far as an invite to an assessment centre. Spending a bit on travel for the opportunity would be well worth it.

Reimbursement for the medical sounds logical -no real surprises there. Thanks for that info.

Hi guys,

With everyone else sharing their experience, I thought I'd share my application progress with you guys.

Applied on the 14th February
Notified to complete Online Test on the 19th March
Online Test completed on the 27th March
Offer of Phone Interview on the 4th April
Phone Interview Completed on the 8th April
Offer of Assessment Centre on the 11 April
Assessment Centre completed (Melbourne) on the 5th May
Notified I was required to re-sit Spatial Awareness Test on the 20 May
Re-sat Spatial Awareness Test on the 22 July
Requested to complete OPQ (Personality Questionnaire) 4th August
Advise of Referee Checks on the 6th August

In terms of the re-sit of the Spatial Awareness test, it was due to not meeting the requirements of the test. But having decent results in all the other assessments of the day they allowed me a chance to Re-sit it.

I'll keep you guys posted. Cheers

Cheers SenZubEanS,

I guess it also shows that if you feel you have fallen a wee bit short on a particular test it may not mean the end for you.

Best of luck to everyone waiting for outcomes.
