Many thanks,

I hope they told you the pass rate is currently below 50%. You could pass the college after 1 year, do 6 months field training and still miss out.
Think about what you're giving up before you roll the dice.

As it is January this Saturday, curious if anyone doing the course in Brisbane has been given a start date and course joining instructions as yet?

Hey Mac
I start 21st Feb on the tower course and received my pre-course material a few weeks before Christmas. Lots to study, but am enjoying it all. Anyone else getting through the study?

just wondering what info people may have on the service contracts? as in service time, bond repayments etc...
Congrats to all that are in so far and good luck to the rest of us...

There is a few posts early on this thread about the training bond, but from the top of my head it's a 5 year bond if you actually pass the course and get rated. The number $70,000 comes to mind but don't quote me. Rumors are airservices only makes you pay if you leave for another ATC gig, not if you give-up ATC all together. There is no repayments, just have to do the 5 years.

$70,000 is correct, from the day you rate, which could be up to 2 years after you start your training. 7 years is a long time.....
Also ASA recently told a near-rated field trainee, that the bond would be payable even if they didn't use their license elsewhere. Trainee resigned.

Hi Trance
"Just curious as to who's still waiting on the assessment day or maybe the phone interview?"
Sorry for the late reply, just got back into things after the silly season. I'm in the same boat as you. Was told to expect an email Dec / Jan to book a phone interview, but no word as yet. We still have another 3 wks of Jan left, so I'm being patient.
If you, or anyone else in this situation, hears anything, please let us know.......

str8shooter, I got a phone call yesterday asking if I was available for a phone interview today (and of course I was)
Thought it didn't go too well, but got an email quite quickly asking me to book my assessment centre day. Apparantly theres one next week but it's booked out, and another one in the 2nd week of March which is when I'm booked in.
This is my second go at it, last attempt over 2 years ago I got through the assessment centre and had a panel interview but got rejected. Hopefully things go better this time..
From the correspondance I've had, it seems as though the assessment centre is the last stage before referee/medical checks.. there's no mention of another panel interview?

Good luck with it Maton, hopefully being your 2nd time round with the assessment day will give you a bit of a "heads-up". Hang in there...., and, well done for persisting........
Me...., well, I just wait. It's been almost 12 mths since first registering my expression of interest, so I've learnt to be patient. As an old African saying goes: "Slowly, slowly, catch the monkey!"
