Schneider, if you look back through the last few pages theres lots of information on the Stage One questions, also on the invite to the stage one theres a link to information about the tests.

thank you for your colaboration, but, the thing is, there are more than 300 pages about NATS interviews and I thought somebody here, who is familiar with this forum, would know some specific page or even websites where i can find information about the first stage.

Anyone got their stage one in Prestwick on the 8th October? Getting nervous now.
Feel fine on the SDT calculations, a little nervous about the ATC material, studying it like mad, has anyone got an example of one of the questions?
The next two tests (If I make it that far), I am a little worried about the cube one, and quietly confident on the diagramming. Nervous times ahead....
How's everyone else doing?

Its my 2nd application too, and I also made it through to the interview last time. Apparently, my interview was average and so I passed that. My problem was that I didn't speak up enough in the group exercise. I tried to gauge it to be in the middle somewhere; not too quiet, not saying too much. Thought I'd managed, but obviously not.
So I've spent the last year waiting for the day to come that I could apply again, and have been trying to improve my interview technique. Really pulling out all the stops, as this is my dream job!
I know what you mean about a long drive, its 5 hrs for me coming from Manchester! But I'm booked onto stage 1 on the 14th Oct at the ATC college in Bournemouth.
How about you? Must have done your online tests by now?

does it mean,it doesn't guarantee if you passed stages 1 & 2 i thought it's formality only after you get through,it's really hard, i really want to be part of NATS coz it's been my dream job. any pointers?

Thanks for the reminder,any advise on how to prepare for this as this is really my dream job and to be part of NATS is truly a dream come true for me. hope some of you can give us pointers.

There is a little preparation you can do. Practice your interview technique!! They'll ask about times where you've gone wrong with something, and what you did (e.g. did you get flustered/work through it/learn from it etc), and they'll also ask for examples of when you've been been successful at something, responsible, creative etc. Its an in-depth interview, mine lasted just over an hour. However, dont worry about if you've said enough, if they want more info from you, they ask questions to guide you, so they'll get all they need.
As for the group exercise, you can't really prepare. They'll set you a task on the day to complete whilst they observe you. You've just got to bounce off the grou you're in, and try to speak up without taking over.

I tried to submit my application online earlier, but the website tells me there has been an error, and to try again later. I've been back a few times to no avail and am getting worried...
calling the phone number on the NATS website, it just goes straight to voicemail right away and i'm reluctant to leave a message before I've left the website for a while in case I do actually just need to give it a bit of time before re-attempting my application.
has anyone else had their application scuppered by a website error?!

I didn't have any problems submitting my application, however, that was a few weeks ago and i have noticed that they appear to have updated their website quite significantly over the past few days so if you're having problems i would assume they may be having some teething problems with the upgrade.
On the other hand, for those who have attended Stage One i have a few questions i was hoping someone would be able to answer. I have my Stage One assessment coming up in the next few weeks and was wanting to find out more information about the four tests which applicants are required to undertake.
How many questions do the tests consist of and are these carried out under similar circumstances as the vast majority of aptitude tests in that you are given a very limited amount of time to complete them?
Does the numerical reasoning test solely consist of S/D/T calculations and orientation based around points of the compass?
I apologise if these questions have been asked previously but having looked through the vast majority of the post i can't seem to find a definitive answer since the recruitment process appeared to have altered slightly not so long ago.

How long does the whole selection process normally take? The reason I ask is that I heard it normally takes 3 months, and I'm graduating from uni in June. If I [hopefuly] get through to the end, would NATS let me wait until June to start? Or should I wait until early next year to apply?

I applied in February this year and just received my course allocation in mid September. It takes a good 5-6 months to get through the 3 stages, online tests and medical (although I've had to have extra reports sent). My advice would be apply with about 3-4 months of your course left to go at Uni. I was in my final year as well and taking 2 days off to go for Stage 2 and Stage 3 isn't an ideal situation if you have dissertations and other deadlines to hit. I've also found that some gentle prodding is sometimes needed to get NATS/CAA to reply to things, or to find "lost paperwork".

In addition to my previous post -
Is anyone else here going to be heading to NATS College on 4th Jan on the 226 Aerodrome course? If so, PM me.
Also - How flexible is the course structure at college? eg. I'm allocated Aerodrome, but i've noticed you can do joint Aerodrome/Approach. Is that determined by performance or is that just business requirements? I'd like to do something challenging and obviously have the best earning potential so what's the best way to go about that?

Sam I Am. NATS are generally very accomodating when it comes to things like people in their final year of Uni or for people in jobs which require long peiods of notice before they can leave so you could quite happily apply now if you want. You also neve know how long you would have to wait until you get a course start date as this is usually several months after being accepted in the first place.
