Glasgow Stage 3 Dates

Hi all,

I am currently waiting for a stage 3 date to become available in Glasgow. I phoned NATS this week and they said the next date will be March 30th. I can't be bothered having to wait all that time and I was just wondering if there is anyone else in Scotland on the same boat. If so PM me and let me know what your plans are.

Stage 3 prep

Many congrats jack.raven, hopefully ill be joining you after next week

in preparation for my S3 i have been thinking of recent events one of which is BA flight 38 last year. as i understand it after a few hours the runway re-opened for departing aircraft, however would the airport have re-opened if that was the only runway? in my mind i would say no, because safety should be the number one priorty, and if it has happened once with no warning then it could happen again, which could result in deaths if there is already an aircraft lying there, therfore best to wait until it has been moved.

however, this would result in huge delays and losses of many thousands of pounds, especially if it took days to move it.

As far as i am aware, BA38 has been the only accident of this kind in the UK, which makes it impossible to compare incidents. the only similar thing was kegworth, but that plane didnt even make the permeter so not really a factor.

Would my answer be seen as being too safe, is there such a thing?

Damn, things must move really fast in your world! I barely said two sentences to the guy.
Either that. Or there's been a real drought, of late.

well done jack.raven

I am surprised jack.raven has been made aware of the results of his stage 3 before me. As of yet, I am still to find out my result. I participated in the stage 3 process one whole week before jack.raven did!

I don't think there is any rhyme or reason when it comes to stage 3 results. My 15 working days are up tomorrow! I spoke to NATS last week and they just said they would let me know by the end of tomorrow!

I have heard of a lot of people going over the 15 working days, when NATS were spoken to they 'forgot' to tell them. Those people got through so as the old saying goes, no news is and can be good news!

Although it is

shugs,

I got pretty much that exact scenario in my s3 (it was hypothetically southampton so only one runway). The ATCO kept asking me if I was going to reopen the runway, even once everyone was out, debris cleared and fuel offloaded etc, and even if the last 100m of the runway were off limits and aircraft were taking off away from the crash. I kept saying no (he was ridiculously pressuring.. I almost caved)... but kept saying safety first and all that, and used an example I'd seen on a tower visit to Machester to say that there's always room for pilot error (if he ignored the 100m, turned round and clipped a wing and caused even more disaster they'd never believe you opened the runway...). You're then having aircraft take off downwind which causes even more risks...

I got through, so I'd say stick to the safety aspect, but give a reason how you think the situation could compromise safety.

Good luck, you're sounding pretty damn prepared

Abi

Results

Well done Raven! My 15 days will be up on Saturday. I hope to hear by tomorrow but if not then it will likely be Monday. If not by Monday noon then I will give them a call. Did anyone else here have their Stage 3 on 23 Jan?

babyjxxx - Yes, things do move quickly these days... HAHA! There are still only 3 people who have guessed.

this may seem a rediculous question, but had my stage 1 on 23rd January, and eagerly awaiting the results. Is the 15 day wait 15 working days (as in 3 weeks) or just 15 days including weekends?

Thanks

Hi error 1234,

I think that the assessor actually said 15 "working" days, I remember that because I told myself that it meant a long time to wait!!

Cheers,

Hi all, New user to this forum, been looking through it and is very interesting.

I have My stage 1 in Manchester on Friday 13th of this month, anyone else got it then?

What can I expect after Stage 1? and how many people usually get through?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi ajfaccini,

If you pass Stage 1, an online personality questionnaire, and if you pass that, Stage 2.

There is no 'set number' of people to get through Stage 1 - if everyone gets marks above the pass rate, you all go through; if no-one gets the mark, no-one goes through. Simple. And I don't know what the pass rate is, and I'm not sure if anyone else does either - sorry...
