Judging by this thread, they must have been inundated. Very pleased I applied when I did. Hopefully my Stage 2 comes back positive. A little worried I'm going to be a part of the "overflow" by applying so late!
Hi TomNokoe,

You are right!
I have just checked!
I was about to apply for the job, but... I can't now.
I am wondering how much time I should wait until I can applying for it.
Any ideas!?

I was also about to apply today, but found that they've stopped recruiting for the meanwhile. Hence, I was wondering if anyone would be able to give a rough estimate of how often they recruit for new ATCOs, or is it just completely unpredictable?

Many thanks.

I've also got another question. If you reject an ATC job offer from NATS, does that work like a 'fail', i.e. will you only be allowed to apply again after 2 years? Thanks.

Should you be successful at your Stage 3 assessment we will be contacting you towards the end of the year with more information about when your training will start.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us on [email protected]

In a similar vein to the above post I received an email yesterday re-confirming that communication will be made in August for the early 2020 start dates (Passed stage 3 on the old process in May).

when you say reject a job what do you mean? If you mean a posting (such as Stansted or Bristol) then this isn’t given to you until you are employed and have passed a rating course, so you’d have to resign and leave employment so separate from the recruitment process.

If you mean mean you don’t want to do a certain discipline then again I believe everyone starts on basic and then the tatcs are streamed to airports, approach or further area courses.

either way, you job offer is to start training, not to work somewhere specific. Even once you gain a position as a trainee you are several steps and some time from being an atco. Company need may change in the time between starting and finishing

short answer is, if you are successful in the recruitment process but turn down a training role then i suspect you are done for ever. They will listen if you want to delay a start date with good reason but that’s about it

When did you pass your stage 2 JH? I passed mine 3 weeks ago but was told it could be up to 6 months before I hear anything back.

With regards to assessment dates, I've just had mine on the 24th July. When I booked onto it a while ago, that and November were the only dates available at that time. Fingers crossed more dates are added and you hear something soon

Hope everyone on the 24th enjoyed it and has some good news in the next couple of weeks! I had a blast, I'm not feeling confident that I've passed but still a thoroughly enjoyable day

Did you apply before they closed the system to new applicants? If so, I suspect you can only get as far as stage 2 this year, as the next stage 3 dates will be next year (as far as I know). So actually starting training could well be later than summer 2020.

No news so far, but it's still early days. I don't think I've ever checked my phone or emails this frequently before too.

I'd prepare yourself to wait the full 30 days or so (unless you were told differently). I did exactly the same as what you're doing, don't worry - but in hindsight it wasn't healthy, constantly checking and worrying about something that is now out of your hands.

So keep yourself busy, see friends and make plans and what will be will be. If it's not the news you're hoping for then you will have learnt some pretty unique and valuable life experience.

But of course, good luck and fingers crossed to you and the others who are waiting.

Thanks for your reply. I meant rejecting a posting, in case it's too far from my home. I guess I might have to contact them to find out for sure. Thanks again, though.

you can’t reject a posting simply because it’s too far from home. There are exceptional circumstances, but generally wherever you’re posted is where you’re expected to go. The job is advertised as a mobile grade and that is reflected in the pay

That's very true and thanks for the advice. Fingers crossed for everyone else too.
