Snoop What is going on in Abu Dhabi??

So guys,
tell me, will Serco get the contract when it expires at the end of the year?

Rumour has it that the DGC are direct hiring...at 24000 dhs per month, with decent accomodation, which is a smidge above what the Serco stalwarts are getting.

They are obviously having a staffing hiccup, giving "spotters fees" to controllers in Abu Dhabi for finding new recruits.

Expanding the number of sectors, paying less than direct hires, reducing time off and cancelling leave, can Serco get anyone to fill in under those conditions?

Discuss.

300 views and no replies???

Is it that no one is willing to go online and upset management in Ab Dab?

I can vouch for the fact that at least one ATCO from Muscat is on his way.

If the rumours about the salary and housing are correct, there will be several more!

Cheers all.

Inquiring minds want to know...... I want to know where to send my cv.......
A fellow controller was being recruited by SERCO for Abu, but was suddenly told that "Serco is no longer hiring for Abu Dhabi"(210,000 dhs per annum was the contract offer).

Hmmm....still no replies from the Abu Dhabans...wonder what is going on up there?

I have it on very good authority that the newest recruit is going up on 26,000 DHS per month WITHOUT housing. The offer was apparently 26K without, or 23K with a flat.
Personally I think he should have taken the accomodation, but he's a big boy.

Might be a pointer to what everyone will get offered if and when Serco get booted at the end of the contract?

Hiya

Don't know much of what's happening at the Area Centre, but if anyone's interested in the Approach/Tower bit, there are probably openings there too...

PM me if interested...

Angel

A small feathered friend tells me that there are 6 Serbian controllers on their way.

This is in addition to several Malaysian controllers currently undergoing sim training.

any confirmations?

Malaysian guys (4 I believe) yet to start and the Serbs (also 4) are undergoing sim assesment to see if they will be offered a training position. There is also supposed to be 1 Omani coming over but not 100% sure when.

Another person has just resigned as well so staff levels are low and getting lower. There are 6 positions available on the serco contract now I believe.

have been told serco will bid but who knows if they will get it!!

Angry Confused?

Duck, is the Omani recruit a direct hire or SERCO.

Likewise are the Serbs direct hires.

What’s happening to the emiratization plan with the contract up at the end of the year?

Too many rumours not enough fact to base a decision on.

Do you think Serco might not get the contract renewed?

Thumbs up Betting Man

Famous quote by Kryptic Man early mentor of Sun Tzu, "In a game of TUG-O-WAR which side would you back , the one with 5 or 30. Even if the team of 5 had the home team advantage the team of 30 still has a lot more pulling power."

Sorry but what do you mean exactly?
I'm guessing you're referring to a possible NATS bid. What makes you think that because they have more contracts in the UK it makes them more likely to win a contract in the Gulf?
And besides, a working relationship with a company that goes back 50 years or more is worth more to the DCA than any new kid on the block bidding to run a contract at a loss.

Red Dragon you must not be well schooled in the teachings of Kryptic Man. I was not talking about the owner of the team but the team itself. Unless they TIBA for a week and chicken/egg the new team then the majority of the incumbent rope pullers should feel safe.

Kryptic Man

Kryptic Man is the guy who says to his wife, " What are we doing this arvo?"
She says, "dunno"
He says, "well if your not doing anything I am going to hit a bucket of balls at the range. See ya."

Don't feel alone there Red Dragon, I can't work out head or tail of what Skase boy is on about. I think he has been hitting the prescription drugs a bit hard lately or something.

Would love to fill you in on all that is happening here ( and there is a lot happening) but unfortunately I might get in hot water, so I better zip it. Good luck in your fishing expedition all!

the Omani guy is a direct hire.

I also heard on the grapevine that the Serbs were canned for political reasons?? True/False?

Thanks everyone.

I was asking my question between the lines as I was told to read between the lines by someone at the GCAA.

Still though, two days later and still no clearer.

What was the agony last time Red Dragon?
