Macquarie Generation Warbirds Over Scone 2003
Sunday October 5th.

Dear fellow aviation enthusiast,

there are 6 weeks left before the Hunter Valley again echoes to the sound of some of the greatest aircraft - warbirds, trainers, Ultralights and helicopters - produced over the last 100 years. The October Long Weekend will certainly be a noisy one with 50 feature aircraft and and expected roll-up of over 150 GA aircraft.

You could win a ride in a MiG-15 just by buying the souvenir magazine.
Read on..

Flying Activity
Planning is underway to create flying displays with a difference; not just another aircraft zooming up and down the runway but "real" handling demonstrations with a touch more drama ;)

Jeff Watson from the Nine Network will again be providing expert commentary, assisted by Estelle from NOVA FM.

There will be much much more - but we are saving the best till last...

Admission
Warbirds Over Scone is pleased to announce that, like last year, visiting pilots and their passengers will only pay half price admission - that's $10 per head. There will also be an aircraft parking area designated OUTSIDE the display area, meaning many pilots and their passengers will be able to freely visit their aircraft or sit under the wings during the display.

Discounted Gold VIP Passes
A purchase of more than 5 VIP Gold passes will attract a group discount; there will be an even greater discount for groups of 10. If you buy 10 Gold passes you will receive more than 30% discount.

Food, drink, grandstand - this amazing price includes too many benefits to list here. See the website for details at www.sconewarbirds.org

Airshow Dinner
In a departure from previous years we are trialling a "finger food" arrangement on Saturday night. Tickets are $20/head and we encourage all visiting pilots to book ahead and join us for a great night.

Sunday night will be a simple Hangar party with the Bar open until late and the Football grand finals showing on the Bar TV. A great way to unwind. Everybody will remember Watto's antics from 2001 and 2003 will be a party not to be missed!

Trade Pavillion
One thing everybody agrees on is that the October Long Weekend is HOT in Scone. This year there will be some shady areas provided and the best one will be the trade pavillion! There will be over a dozen vendors and exhibitors of various types clustered in this one area including The Aeroplane Art Co, Virgin Blue, Landing Gear and Lukus Productions.
If you want to exhibit your product then this is a good place to start - call Simon Collins or Email him on [email protected]

Thats just some of the news from the Warbirds over Scone bunker - there will be another update in a couple of weeks. Remember, we are always keen to improve the show so if you have some feedback from previous shows drop us a line.

Best wishes and looking forward to seeing you at Scone on October 5th 2003.

What, no mention of the quad drags? :ooh:

Can't make it this time Ben, have a great one and best regards to Mick and all. ;)

Those of you who are in a position to go, I'd strongly recommend it. It is something not to be missed, you'll talk about it for months and months afterwards. :ok:

Your next challenge is to build a higher 'can castle'...... :}

Dear Airshow fan,

Welcome to the second online update for Macquarie Generation Warbirds Over Scone 2003.

Airshow

Things are really hotting up with the paperwork submitted to CASA this week for final approval of the Airshow. Air Display co-ordinator Mick Poole has gathered all the details required for the CASA approval; the risk assessment team has been over the show and associated activities; our Insurance company, QBE Aviation, have backed us strongly and are happy with the shape the show is taking. FULL STEAM AHEAD!

CONFIRMED:
The Southern Knights have confirmed that they are able to make it to Scone for our 2003 Airshow despite being heavily committed with other events down south.
The Southern Knights are a team of dedicated professional pilots performing a highly choreographed routine in their WW2 era "Harvard" aircraft. The sound and the spectacle of these four aircraft smoking their way around an aerobatic routine has to be seen to be believed and - in the opinion of many- outdoes the RAAF's own Aerobatic team "The Roulettes" for precision, grace and spectacle. A highlight of the 1998 and 2001 Airshows, Warbirds Over Scone will be proud to again host the Southern Knights.

Camping facilities:
Many people used the on-site camping facilities at Warbirds Over Scone 2001. Unfortunately, the kind soul who lent us his block for camping has since built his "dream house" (complete with hangar and back-fence access to the Airfield) and the block is now unavailable to us.
We are looking at possible solutions to this problem. If you would like to camp at Warbirds Over Sconw 2003, we would ask you to do two things:
1. Go to the www.sconewarbirds.org homepage and register your interest; and
2. Ring one of the caravan parks and book there. We will be providing a shuttle-bus service on a continuous loop, which will include the caravan parks, from "Early till late" on Saturday and Sunday.

Souvenir Program:
The souvenir program is finalised now with new features added under the guidance of Brian Hill. Brian has seen the need for a guide to the accommodation and dining facilities in Scone and we are incorporating these features into the magazine. You will be able to pre-purchase the souvenir magazine online as soon as we get it back from the printer: keep checking the website!

You already know that you can win a ride in the MiG-15 if your magazine's copy number matches that drawn by Jeff Watson on Sunday at 3pm.
You may not know that there will be a feedback form included in the magazine and if you fill it in completely then put it in the box under the Power FM control tower, ONE FORM will be drawn out and that person shall win an adventure flight in the YAK-52 "Grasscutter 1". Your feedback on the show is important to us and will show us how to make Warbirds Over Scone 2005 even better.

Thats all from the Scone Warbirds Bunker - keep checking the website for more news and information.
