View Full Version : QUESTION RE: ATPL Command Hour Requirement

Hypothetically, if someone was to attain a job flying an aircraft weighing more than 5700 kgs, without an ATPL licence, where they can only act as a 1st officer, how can one build up their command hours to meet the ATPL requirements?

I understand the Australian requirement is 250 hrs PIC, where 150 hrs may be ICUS.

How does this rule apply to for example Qantas cadets who begin work with roughly 100 hrs PIC?

Don’t you require a command rating on the aircraft to log ICUS ? or can you log ICUS with a co-pilot rating ?

Flying as a 1st officer, are you able to log the sectors you fly as ICUS ?

Forgive my ignorance but I am a little confused with the above requirement, and if anyone could kindly shed some light into the matter it would be appreciated.
