What about the DROPPED RYR Flight.

Bournemouth To Hahn...

What are the REAL Reasons, always used to see the airport bus full with backpackers when this arrived.

Interesting to hear any thoughts why...

I am surprised that FR is dropping its Bournemouth-Frankfurt (Hahn) route because it is offering 50,000 free seats as a part of its new promotion.

Incidentally, FR is, according to Airliner World, to expand its services to the following places:

Bologna (Forli);
Eindhoven;
Gothenburg;
Hamburg (Lubeck);
Newcastle;
Newquay;
Oslo (Torp);
Rome (Ciampino);
Stockholm (Skavsta or Vasteras or both?) and
Verona (Brescia).

In addition, the airline will operate six times daily to Milan (Bergamo) from October 26, replacing its current thrice-daily.

"RYANAIR LAUNCHES THREE NEW ROUTES TO VENICE, GOTHENBURG & BARCELONA

Ryanair, Europe’s No.1 low fares airline, today ( 13th August 2003) added three new routes to its existing 125 European route network and to celebrate announced a 125,000 FREE seat sale – all you pay is the taxes.

Daily flights will commence on the following new routes from October and can be booked online at www.ryanair.com from today:

Glasgow-Prestwick – Gothenburg
Bournemouth – Barcelona-Girona
Frankfurt-Hahn – Venice-Treviso
The airline is also doubling its frequency on its Glasgow-Prestwick – Bournemouth service to two flights a day from 16th October.

Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Paul Fitzsimmons, said: “Over the last year Ryanair launched 50 new routes throughout Europe. Today we are announcing three new routes which will commence in October 2003.

"The new route to Barcelona Girona from Bournemouth is in response to the huge public demand for services to the popular Spanish region, and will replace the existing service from Bournemouth to Frankfurt Hahn."

"This brings Ryanair’s European route network to 127, and confirms Ryanair’s position as Europe’s No.1 low fares airline."

Fares for these new routes will start at € 19.99 (Frankfurt-Hahn - Venice Treviso), £39.99 (Glasgow-Prestwick - Gothenburg), and €49.99 (Bournemouth-Barcelona-Girona), and are available now at www.ryanair.com."

Is that the actual taxes charged by the airports/governments or the taxes as deemed payable by Ryanair?

I suspect they are still making a small markup on each free seat sold!

;) ;) ;)

Can't understand why they are dropping a route that carried almost 95,000 pax in it's first full year of operation (March 02 - February 03). This despite mucking around with the time of the flight - changing it from afternoon to late evening and then to early morning! Pax numbers have been higher in the summer months so hopefully it may be reinstated for Summer 2004?

Having frightened off the competition at SOU, with BA quickly dropping their FRA service, perhaps they are now turning their attention to FlyBe and their Spanish routes from SOU?

Le Tirer,

I think you're correct in thinking that FR plan to attack Flybe. In todays Bournemouth Echo Kathryn Munro has said that FR plan to link BOH to other destinations and that this could happen within the next few months. FR have never made a statement like that re BOH before. Actually putting a timeframe to it. So there could well be a plane based at BOH for the start of the summer 2004 schedules flying Bournemouth to Malaga, Murcia and Bergerac.:ok:
