The numbers of Pilot who were retrenched by SQ was widely known by a lot of us outside SQ.But somehow how was this few picked?
I do not think it was last in first out. Heard the guy ( FO ) in the TPE Asiaworld Incident was out too and looking for a job up north.

dont know what the asiaworld incident is about.nobody seems to know about any criteria used for retrenchment.smacks purely of a political statement from temasek holdings(parent conglomerate of SQ) which the ruling junta run here in singapore.

Five of the 26 SIA pilots axed on July 21 were First Officers employed on local terms, while 15 were Singapore-based expatriate pilots. The rest were overseas-based pilots from SIA's offshore subsidiary, SIA Mauritius. When contacted, an SIA spokesman said: "The recent retrenchment exercise was to address the prevailing surplus of crew..."

Looks like they are finding excuses to weed out what they deem are not desireable in their perceived culture as they axe FO's who were on local terms. The guy in the Asiaworld incident was the Guy with a name similar to an alcoholic beverage!heard this but how true?

Somehow a nice guy is not always a nice guy if he is too nice. Maybe in the Kiasu culture, it does not pay to be nice just sordid and keep your bloody mouth shut and do not question the authority or even your own colleagues who for the past few days had been flying with you thru thick and thin. Whistleblowers are out to gain mileage at your expense at your slightest slip. Been to an SQ function before when guys are just like zombies watching out for their own back not being what they normally are.
God Bless Them.
