My sister and her family flew out this morning with Brits from LGW. I have a couple of questions for any Brit pilots out there!

1. Is the usual equipment a 757 or 767?

2. As the flight time is about 4 hours and presumably fast turnarounds are not an issue, do crews stopover for the night or is it straight back to Blighty?

Can't answer 1. I'm afraid.

2. Very def straight back to UK unfortunately. The most restrictive flight duty period is for a very late / very early report. Even with that, a 2 sector day the flight crew can do 10 hrs 15 mins from report to chocks on back home.

1 hour report, 2 * 4 hours sectors (not normally that long LGW-LPA) and a 1 hour turnaround is just inside this. Reporting at more respectable times of day this is easily acheiveable.

1) Normal equipment is a 757-200 up to 28th July then a 767-300 for the rest of the season (to 27th October). So today's flight should have been a 763.

2) As expedite said, definately straight back to the UK. I believe BY pilots even do the likes of LGW-SSH-LGW in a single duty (with an 12:00ish report and 01:00 return) :(

UK-Cyprus-UK is also a single duty.

They may have a third (relief) pilot or even a whole second crew for the SSH runs though... still cheaper than a hotel room for the entire season in Egypt.

Hi Ray Ban,

Yes, our fleet of aircraft include the 757-200, 767-200 and the 767-300. I can only answer with regards to MAN, but the 767-300 normally operates to LPA, 328 and 315 configuration.

We can operate up tp 13 and 1/4 hours a day - our longest day out is to Luxor, Egypt and back - 5 and 1/2 hours each way flight time so a LPA is a nice duty compared to that !!!!!
