I wonder what is going on with MYT flights into LBA and MAN today. LBA have 4 flights showing with long delays, and at MAN they seem to have the same problem.

Not a good day for MYT at MAN today the good old
DC-10 going TD again at one stage every flight had a TD delay some as long as 16 hrs:mad:

most of the MYT fleet of DC-10 need to be replaced asap most days they go TD.

around october they are to be replaced so we here on the grapevine but with what??? some more DC-10 that are 30 yrs old and a pile of ****

i think that My Travel should build there own hotel,as most of there passengers end up in one around the airport :p :p

Of course this never happens to other airlines!

Do the aging DC10's cause a rake of LBA flights to get mega delays as well? Or could it be something more sinister? Have MYT had to copper up to pay for fees etc? Questions, questions.....

The delays over the last few days have been caused by technical issues within the DC10 and 757 fleet, along with crewing problems (FTL and sickness) across all fleets.

Or could it be something more sinister?

:hmm:

The only thing sinister going on is the smell of the DC10s toilets!

They are not the only people struggling this weekend and there does seem to be an almost total lack of subcharter capacity around to recover when things go wrong.

LBA problem appeared to start on Friday when the based 757 went tech on its MAH W pattern and missed MAH closing time. It then set off on the Friday night LBA-IBZ on Saturday morning, got to IBZ and allegedly went back to IBZ with a tech problem. The 04:55 Saturday morning IBZ-LBA flight eventually arrived back at 15:30 on Sunday afternoon. The LBA programme has been screwed for the rest of the weekend due to having to catch up one whole rotation.

MAN problems looked like three aircraft badly out of line with schedule although it seems to be getting better.

Problems also now affecting LGW flights - the 767 Canada prog was about 6 hrs behind from Friday anyway. Sunday Monastir-LGW 14:20 arrival yesterday got in at 02:30 this morning, Agadir-LGW 04:20 Monday arrival estimating 15:00, Reus-LGW 12:05 Monday estimating 20:15, 17:45 Larnaca-LGW est 21:00.

Let's face it, MYT's timekeeping is well-known as being absolutely useless. Look's like it could be time for another name change...

I booked to fly to TFS from Gatwick earlier this month, seeing as they were the only airline with availability. The minute I paid I knew what I was getting in to...and sure enough we left Gatwick nearly four hours late on a 'back-up' DC 10-10.

But not even that could prepare me for the return leg! Due to leave TFS at 13.45; by the time I boarded the Monarch scheduled for Luton at 20.00 there was still no definite departure time for MYT 402. Felt sorry for the poor reps getting it in the ear in that heat, but it's no wonder they're p**sing money away. No other airline at TFS had problems, and sadly no other airline had availabilty either!

So why are they (MYT) so consistantly poor performers, then? Personally speaking, it's been six fights with them to date = six ball-aches. And that last one cost me £200 in lost earnings plus £90 Monarch fare plus £60 hotel due to arriving in London nearly seven hours late. Complain? Me? Not much point really...just get the usual 'we're sorry-but-we-do-our-best' etc etc.

On a lighter note, the ride on the DC 10-10 was a right bone-shaking pleasure. The fantastic whine of the engines on take-off was a real pleasure to hear, and sitting in row 2 of a 1970's cabin was fun in itself. The last time I enjoyed myself that much was in a Delta Tristar with bits falling off. I did start to worry, though, when Leslie Nielsen kept popping into the cockpit!

And the latest:

BBC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/3143237.stm)

It does appear that the 757 involved was later the one to go tech at Ibiza on Saturday for most of the day (and Sunday) with what was allegedly the same defect. However, I also wouldn't be surprised if there had been some some embellishment of the events to make this into a better news story.

As I said before this of course never happens to any other airline!

Some folks have short memories or is selective?;)

Have to agree with PAXMAN . MYT/AIH have been consistently the worst for delays for years .........but no-one has ever given an explanation . Have just discovered these boards and wondered if anyone here knows . :(

Total rubbish, MYT/AIH have been no worse than some and better than others over the years. Check your facts!

They had a bad weekend due to a lot of bad luck it happens to every airline from time to time.
