Wonderful pix Damien (and Mrs. Damien):D . Thank you for posting them.

One question - is that little blue twin an Anson or some Airspeed machine?

Anson I think.

I see the star shines ever more brightly Damien. Brilliantly in fact!

Get that book sorted. It will be a winner.

It is an Anson - although I don't know whether civil versions were known as 'Ansons' or just Avro Nineteen.

Great piccies - and Airbedane, I hope you'll be flying the Shuttleworth gems again soon!

Damien - Very nice. I was hoping to meet you yesterday, but although HP pointed you out and I sat behind you for a half hour or so, you were so engrossed in your wok that I didn't want to interrupt. Having seen the results, I'm glad I didn't. Next time perhaps?

BEagle - So do I!

Pigboat - The correct term for the 'little blue twin', which in fact is 'quite a large twin', is an Avro XIX. It's the civilian version of the Anson.

Hi DB,

Glad you liked your brief ride in the yellow cabrio - what better way to spend 20 minutes iin the warm sunshine???

DIdn't she do well too for getting us - er.hmmm. well you know....off the ground in just a hop and a skip (OK, several hops and several skips.....!)

I love the piccies - I dont think I ve seen The Collections aircraft portrayed so well before.

I know you took one of little Eddie in the Lysander cockpit - could I have a copy of that? Otherwise, his mates at school won't believe him, his teachers will cuff him around the ear for telling porkies in his holiday diary...!

Kindest regards and total respect.

Any vintage plane owners out there - give this guy a ride! You'll end up with some stunning pictures of your bird - (and your plane....)

Damn you vintage ATCO! First time I've managed to get her to dress up and you splash the pics everywhere. And I knew I should have retired the floppy hat last year... also, I guess my bum did look big in that

Thanks all. They were known as Ansons over here. The only civil version I know of was the Mark V. It had the P&W R495's and Ham Stan props instead of the original powerplants.
