Golly gosh gosh 146, if you call that "very nice" what in heaven's name are you on? It's absolutely awful :yuk: :yuk: and :yuk: !!!

A very SAS like scheme - YUK YUK YUK - I watched it rolled out of the paintshop at BOH and all agreed it was an awful scheme........6 days to turn it into that !!!!.......Lets hope the new company gets a more favourable response from Joe Public.

I don't think its that bad! In fact it is very professional, and most of all original!

I agree with you 146!

I saw this one today from a distance and thought it was an aircraft needing a re-spray. From a distance the engines look like standard green primer. It appear as if it was halfway between a paint job.........ooops.

I agree with you BAe 146-100 - the new Duo Airways livery is extremely stylish - clean, uncluttered, contemporary, restrained use of color - very scandinavian and very now. I guess you others like brash, garish liveries?! (mytravel is probably more your thang) ;)

Yeah but even in the that linked photo, you have to look hard to see the name......that can't be good. Because from one apron to the other at brum you could not see the name or anything. It does'nt talk to you who they are. Mind you its better than that nice Maersk Blue or having BA down the side!

It's a photgraphic nightmare - how many of you know that it hasn't just got DUO on the tail and engine, but "Tm" as well - you just can't see any of it unless the lighting is perfect.
Oh well, keep it on an airbridge and the pax won't know.
Interior still to be done in three shades of beige - apparently.

They are opening a base out of EDI from October to operate to OSL/ZRH/LIN/GVA and I am v interested to find out the situation is with job vacancies. The website is currently under contruction so there isnt much on it at the mo.:hmm:

jbird, Duo are not opening an Edinburgh base, the routes from EDI will be W patterns from Brum combined with night stopping crew/aircraft from Brum. Makes sense until they see if the routes work. I believe they are recruiting for their Birmingham base but must be nearing completion now.

Thanks Shed Driver.

I hear what you say and thanks for the info. I heard from a third party in BRAL that they are offering F/A 3 yr contracts. Is it also true then that they are being funded by the scottish excutive as BRAL where approached to operate to more destinations out of EDI and they declined and DUO stepped in>

I tend to agree with the rest of you guys, sorry BAe 146 - I am not hugely impressed with the paint job and colours - it looks like the under coat.

Too many of these new airlines go with ever so subtle colours etc that are I believe wasted on us.

Although I am quite fond of Jet Magics livery (the're a new Cork based airline) Jetmagic livery (http://www.airliners.net/open.file?id=389646&WxsIERv=RW1icmFlciBFUkotMTQ1&WdsYXMg=SmV0bWFnaWM%3D&QtODMg=QmFyY2Vsb25hICgtIEVsIFByYXQpIChCQ04gLyBMRUJMKQ%3D%3D&ERDLTkt=U3BhaW4%3D&ktODMp=SnVseSAxMiwgMjAwMw%3D%3D&BP=1&WNEb25u=UGV0ZXIgVW5tdXRoIC0gVkFQ&xsIERvdWdsY=RUktR1hB&MgTUQtODMgKE=&YXMgTUQtODMgKERD=NDE%3D&NEb25uZWxs=MjAwMy0wNy0yNA%3D%3D&static=yes)

I agree while the livery is stylish, the name is hard to see - let alone read - from more than 50 meters away... The airline's new name should be displayed PROMINENTLY to create awareness within the travelling public - is it me, or do the commercial guys have no idea what marketing is all about?

The tail was supposed to be "Aubergine" coloured (i.e., Burgundy), yet under typical Brummie skies, it looks nearly black. The CF-34 pods were supposed to be painted a "mustard" shade - gold might have been better (more in keeping with the "classy" image).

Get the paintguns out again, guys!

Was told the tail was to be 'grape' - as in the dark purple variety.

I also believe that the writing was not exactly what it was expected to look like after being returned from the paint shop. This is being looked into so should be rectified but may not be in time for he other aircraft being sprayed at the moment.

FYI Colour schemes can now be seen on www.duo.com (albeit in small format).

DJ - I stand corrected; to me, Burgundy is a variety of grape (in liquid form)...

Cheers

Anyone know what aircraft BA CitiExpress are putting on Milan and Stuttgart - if you look on ba.com you'll find that they are matching Duo's schedules at comparable times and at lower fares.

I guess it's "competition" but it seems to be over supplying the market to double frequency - what a way to treat a previous partner!!!

Just to give you an idea of a fare comparison:

BHX-STR Return.

Outbound 2nd November 2003
Inbound 5th November 2003

BA Euro Traveller (Economy to you and me) = £108.20 - includes a nasty sandwich and a complementary bar.

BA Club Europe (Business/lowest fare) = £418.20 - includes a light meal and a complementary bar.

BA Club Europe (Business/flexible fare) = £635.20 - fully flexible ticket and includes a light meal and a complementary bar.

Aircraft type will be an Embraer 145 OR an Avro Regional Jet 100(BAE146).

duo advantage = £130 - The fare is not refundable (only taxes, fees and charges will be refunded). You can change your travel plans up to 3 hours before departure but each change costs £30/45 Euros per sector plus any difference in fare. No name changes permitted. You have a choice of meals when you book online (available shortly) and you will recieve a business class product.

duo privilege = £488 - This fare offers you complete flexibility of use and therefore peace of mind that plans can be changed without additional expense. The fares are fully refundable and can be changed up to 3 hours prior to departure In addition passengers have lounge access where this is available. Again your online booking will give you access to the menu selection for your journey.

I think it is obvious which is better value for money.

Hi,

Duo Advantage is excellent value for money, getting a choice of meals is great. The food will much better then BA's All Day Deli. :ok:

I fail to see how they are going to make a great deal of money with what is a relatively small a/c. Especially if BA is going to compete with them because irrespective of the meals comment earlier BA offer a pretty good lounge at most of these stations. Whatever I wish them every sucess as they were a good outfit before.

Duo Airways has great cabin crew. Very friendly and very professional.

But I though they were a BA franchise and the old Maersk Airways? Or has that changed now? Can anyone give me the website please?

Blighty Pilot
9th Aug 2003, 05:54
Yes duo is the old Maersk and the BA franchise is finishing as of 26th October this year.

You can find out more information about the new company at www.duo.com

Yesterday I saw both 'OA' and 'OF' at close quarters and as much as I wish DUO all the success in the world, their livery still gets "nul points" from Avman. Sorry DUO but it's really really awful. :ugh:
