Some discussion here about QF having a better FF scheme for getting points for BA flights than BA since the cut in discount economy fares to 25% miles. For people considering QF, be advised they are following suit.

The good news is that it will still be better for most people than being in the BA scheme.

There are good and bad changes. The good changes came into effect on 1 July 2003, the bad changes will come into effect on 1 January 2004.

Good changes:-
Status bonus on BA flights
+25% for QF Silver
+50% for QF Gold
+100% for QF Platinum

Cabin bonus on BA WT+
+10% for all (currently you only earn 100% of flown miles)

Bad changes:-
Cut in earn on BA discount Y - earn 25% of flown miles
Cut in minimum earn in BA discount Y - 125 miles minimum (currently 500 miles)

No change:-
Earn status credits on every BA flight incl discount Y

I'm a Gold, and this means that from 1 July I will go from earning 100% of flown miles to 150% for the transitional period, but then from 1 January I will drop to 75%. 100% to 75% is bad, but it could have been worse. It looks like I can continue to earn and keep my status flying BA discount Y. If you're in the BA scheme, you won't get anything towards status at all flying discount Y.
