Hi,

And for those of you who were there, the spit and sea hurricane flying in the twilight with merlins growling with lightning cracking in the background... WOW!!!!

I was there.

I'll have some photo's in a cople of weeks time hopefully. I'll try and post them up here if they are any good.

The Spitfire and Hurricane with the Storm Cloud and Lightning backdrop was truly awe inspiring and made the hair stand up on the back of your neck for the whole duration of their display.

Cracking flying by all. I took my Dutch 'in-laws' and my Dutch niece. They all thoroughly enjoyed it.

A credit to everyone involved.

That was probably my crowd. There was more than one set of dutch people there though as we found out when we found ourselves walking along beside another set of folks talking in Dutch. The only PPRuNer I saw there (but did not speak to) was Hairyplane.

We wandered all over the place but I was glued to the fence when the Spit was displaying. Was it me or did the comentator frequently confuse his left and right?

Great evening.

i think he was having a bad evening! didn't stop talking either that night!! AND he never finished the story of how the collection got their Hind.... he started by saying it was a really interesting story then realised he was blabbing, stopped... but never finished it!
However, he's probably one of the best airshow commentators i've ever listened too....

There were plenty of optical howitzers around at Shuttleworth’s evening and someone is bound to have some decent pics but these from my little digibox will give a flavour.

The Avro 504 posed before the early evening sky

The result of an exuberant display of toilet roll cutting and ribbon pickups. Aren't they neatly spaced on the wings?

That's not exhaust flames on the Hind - just a brief reflection of the setting sun on the polished cowling.

That menacing cloud that skirted the airfield provided a dramatic backdrop to the final display.

Sorry about that. Another try with the Chippie

The chippie display was pretty spectacular..... i watched one of the "white overalls" gaffa tape wire barbs to the end of the leading edge of each wing, guess they were there to A: cut the toilet roll and B: to stop the ribbons running along the wing and falling off. never realised you could throw a chippie around that much! :) :)
