This just appeared on the ABC website . . .

Fischer suggests Concorde for Vic
Former deputy prime minister, Tim Fischer, is calling for British Airways to send one of its decommissioned Concorde's to Avalon, west of Melbourne, as a final resting place.

Speaking during the launch of the community plan for Victoria's Surf Coast, Mr Fischer urged councils and business leaders to lobby for the tourism icon.

He says the site for the annual Avalon airshow would be a perfect spot for the supersonic jet.

"In the same way that Longreach in the middle of Queensland now has a classic Qantas jumbo jet as a centre piece for the Qantas founders' museum, having the world's first ever supersonic passenger aircraft one off at Avalon would be a nice gateway to Geelong, Bellarine, Surf Coast and add to the tourist resources of the area."

"It would need obviously combined commitment of Melbourne and Geelong and other councils, it would need airshows down under and someone like (Commonwealth Games head) Ron Walker to spearhead it."

"British Airways and Great Britain do owe Australia this chance by allocating one of the Concordes down under."

Read this morning in the Herald Sun that it could possibly be stored at Tulla, but that's only a suggestion.
