What happened at Jersey this afternoon? A dozen aircraft in the hold and two emergencies in progress? One said to be smoke in cockpit, the other (ATR?) a tailstrike on departure?

The ATR had a tailstrike.....heard that is was on landing.

Seems like the whole fleet of British airways ATRs will be grounded at the present time........the other four A/C are out of compliance due to considerable " difficulties " with the new ( and very expensive ) documentation and certification computer system that BA has bought into . ( EWS )

Doesn't sound good... Let's hope the ATRs go out on a happy note eventually... a lot of BA's collective success at LGW was down to them :D

First incident was Bmi Baby 737 Cardiff - Toulouse div JER due pressurisation problem & burning smell in cabin.

Second incident involved landingBACX ATR culminating in a tail strike.

Runway closed for a short time for inspection. Hence traffic holding.

ATR made heavy landing, with a high bounce of probably 2metre height. High nose attitude, with tail striking the ground on second landing, heavy breaking followed. First landing after hold Delta, second one between Delta and Echo.

Twr asked if they required assistance/ inspection before taxi, but this was not required. A/c taxied on to stand and was inspected there.

Fire service came out, did RWY inspection, no A/C debris reported, but a few chippings from surface were swept up and removed.

Heavy breaking it may well have been, but did you mean heavy braking?

Ah, well spotted. Can I send you all my written communications first for proof reading?
