British Midland using European's B732

[Standard Entry]

European B732,

Just wanted to know if anyone has flown on this, heard a few bad stories about this aircraft re service and comfort not being up to Midland's usual standard.

Also why if they needed to lease anything did they put it on BMI Mainline, couldnt they have put the 732 to Baby and robbed one of there 733's or 735's??

Today Its operating LHR-MAN-LHR-EDI-LHR-MAN, l fear if they have this machine for a while it may start turning passengers away.

yes, I was on it a few weeks ago in "C class" from EDI-LHR. No hot meal, no bmi staff, tiny overhead lockers, very aged interior. :( I'm not flying again for a while, but I'll be keeping an eye out for this beastie, and will do my best to avoid.

Well, as I'm sure you're aware this "beastie" is
with us until mid-August or until G-DJ has returned from Toulouse
with it's brand spanking new radome and ..erm..everything else !
European are currently operating LHR-GLA/MAN/EDI/CDG
on a daily basis and, yes, it is an older a/c with comfort/service being compromised from what you are usually used to, however, to have flown it on the baby routes and to have placed one of the baby 737 into LHR would have created mayhem with rostering with very few bmi cabin crew still in check on the 737...couldn't really see baby flying in/out of LHR.
On a personal note, the European crew are a very professional bunch and a pleasure to deal with.

There's a topic over on the bmi flyertalk forum which has quite a few posts from people who have flown on the 732 and been less than happy with the experience.

As a loyal bmi flyer I reckon they could have spent a few extra quid and leased in a 320/321 from somewhere.

At a time when they're battling against the low costs it doesn't look good to have a 25 year old plane that even easyJet would turn their nose up at.

Lets just hope Airbus can hammer the dents out of of MID-J quicker than expected. :ouch:
