From this weeks Flight International news that a group of ex Sabena pilots are to start their own international carrier. With the backing of four investors the new airline is to serve Africa and is expected to employ 500 ex-Sabena pilots and 800 cabin crew.

Should prove interesting. I wish them every success.

Bearing in mind this is ex. Sabena folks, what would the expected crew-to-aircraft ration be then ? Even with a fleet of 10 widebodies, it's still a lot of pilots to employ. Best of luck none the less, hope they get it off the ground so to speak.

Hi folks,

Does this project have any relation with the freddy van gaever project "VG airlines", initially meant for transat flights, but, according rumors here in belgium, that is standing way back behind in the paperwork to get an AOC?

2Low,

Belive this is a seperate attempt to resurrect the remains of Sabena. The suggested routes leaves them well clear of VG's plans to cover the Atlantic, or parts thereof anyway. Coincidentially, have heard that VG owns or part-onws VLM Airlines. IF so, could the AOC then already be in place leaving The Guvnor once again broadsided by reality ?

Good show.

Anyone care to put money down, on how long it will take until they go on strike again?

Astronauts can't run airlines (a historically proven fact) so how can a bunch of unionizing, strike prone pilots? wow <img src="confused.gif" border="0"> <img src="confused.gif" border="0"> <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0">
