If there's one aspect of intrusive advertising which needs to be stamped out, it's BŁOODY SMS ADVERTISING!! So when I read:

"This is a test: Coming soon... text adverts. Exclusive opportunities for businesses to attract customers to their websites.
Reach out to over 35,000 readers a day. Focussed targeting by country or region.
Also, specialised advertising campaigns taylored to specific needs. Watch this space for more information. "

in the header to PPRuNe forums, it seems to indicate that PPRuNe is promoting this garbage! I certainly hope not....

Surely cellphone operators can come up with an option which only allows text messages to be received from sources saved in your phone's SIM card or memory? That way you could still receive sms messages people you were happy to receive them from, but not advertising cr@p.

I don't think SMS is involved - the clue is in the phrase "Your message here can be read by over 35,000 people every day".

Steady Beags, steady.

We've spent the past couple of months working with a coder to create a system offering live classified ads in a specific forum for them. It should all come to fruition in the near future - fingers crossed - syntax, scripts and debugging permitting:O :O :ok:

Thanks, Rob.

I was a bit concerned that "Coming soon... text adverts" meant that PPRuNe was somehow supporting those infernal junk-sms text adverts which plague us these days!
