Can't Remember Password

I am running windows 2000 on a sony laptop. Untill recently eveything was fine , but now it refuses to remember any password I enter, eg pprune log on, Outlook express log on user name and password . Every thing else is fine. I t's just a nuisance having to re type user name and passwords into ever program that needs them. Any ideas please?? :hmm:
