A new Pacific airline

A new airline incorporated in the Northern Mariana Islands, Oceania Air, says it plans to serve the Saipan-Pohnpei-Brisbane, Australia, route, combining cargo and passenger service.

Oceania Air executive Tony Dear says the company proposes to operate a US-registered Boeing 727-200 Advanced Series aircraft, providing freight capacity of 20 tonnes and 36 economy class passengers.

Four major international airlines now service the CNMI -- Continental Micronesia, Japan Airlines, Northwest Airlines and Asiana Airlines.
